Manila K1 wait times? Anyone know?

From the average processing time and Igor's list it looks like we're maybe 3 weeks from NOA2 approval, based on averages. We filed an I-129F, K1/ engaged/ not yet married.

I have a rare name, I'm hoping that will make my processing faster.

My question is, once it goes through NVC and gets to the Manila embassy, does anyone know how long it takes before they contact us with the MNL number and we can set our appointment date?

The Manila embassy website says 14 days for non-immigrant EXCLUDING K visas, 3-5 MONTHS for immigrant visas, but lists NO information about how long a K visa appointment takes, just an information that says we'll pay yet more money to make the phone call to set our appointment (big surprise!).

Anyone who has processed through Manila embassy, please reply.

Thanks!!!!

Dain

Why wait for the USEM to contact you? That takes too long. Instead, why not call the NVC and get your MNL#? After you get your MNL# from the NVC, give it about two weeks, and then call the USEM to schedule an interview appointment. It takes about two weeks for the NVC to send your papers to the USEM, and for the USEM to enter your papers into their system. Easy-peasy.

Thanks again

Start calling the NVC to get your MNL# about a week after you receive your NOA2 email notification. Then, after you get your MNL# from the NVC, it takes about two weeks for the USEM to receive your papers and enter them into their system.

When you get your MNL# from the NVC, wait for about two weeks before you call the USEM to make an interview appointment. This will allow the NVC time to send your papers to the USEM and for the USEM to enter your papers into their system.

I suggest calling the Dept. of State after you have the MNL # to find out when the papers are sent out. You could be one of the not so lucky ones chosen for "addition processing" at which case you could be held up a month or more. In our case, not only did we get AP but our file also disappeared for a month during the transfer so we could not get approval at the interview. It's important that they have both the electronic and hard copies, or you are just wasting your time.

OK, thanks for the very useful information from both of you!!!
