Ditto in the comfortable in my own skin thing -- there are just those days that creep up on you and slap you right in the heart...

;)

God, I am having some sort of emotional surge today, folks...

I'll go back to being bad*ss soon enough.

;)

Hey, it's fine. Honestly. I have my days where I feel all lonely and clingy etc. and I miss her horribly. And vice versa. But usually we can just steel ourselves to the process and take what we can get.

Nothing beats being together though. I've always been comfortable in my own skin, but never in the same way as I feel when I'm with her.

We played WoW together and talked on MSN/the phone as much as possible. I really liked playing WoW with him (it was how we met in the first place, so just seemed very comfortable to us). We spent HUGE amounts of time on the phone -- one month we talked for 55 hours! Thank goodness for unlimited long distance :D

We met on Wow, and still play it 4-5 times a week.

And we schedule movie nights, where we'll rent the same film and queue up sound while over MSN voice chat or something similar.

We text a lot, and now that we're on the same phone plan, we talk a lot over our phones as well. Neither of us are big phone folks (me especially) but we're trying. It makes us feel closer than chatting back and forth.

We talk on the phone everyday, my wife puts my boy on the phone (two years old) and he's just really starting to talk in full sentences, but he's still hard to understand when he gets going fast, and I just never get enough of that.

Well, it's obviously a topic that we can all relate to! My wife and I have had many visits back and forth over the past year+, but in all the in-between times, what sorts of things do you and your significant others do?

Some of the things my wife and I do are...

-Watch movies together. We both rent the same DVD and we sync them up by saying, "Okay, press plaaaay...NOW!" Then pause/play, pause/play until I can hear through the phone that they're in sync. We've watched at least 50 movies this way, not to mention countless TV series. It is probably our main on-the-phone pastime.

OMG!! Ive been wanting to do that but my fiancé says Im a dork!!!

I will copy and paste this and show him it is a great idea!!

When we are apart, I just yell for her to come into the front room

We used started out just using MSN and a voice server (ventrilo). Then went out and bought webcams. We started playing WoW after we met, and that has stuck. I was actually hesitant to start playing. We never could have done the reading the same book thing. She can read a 1000 page book in like 3 hours...... We don't really have the same taste in movies either, but we find common ground after aruging for a while over them

My fiancé and I watched 2 seasons of Heroes via the 'okaaaaay NOW' method, but then it got annoying to try to find a good one online so we gave up. Haven't done full out movies yet though (I don't DL movies... personal preference).

Was waiting for someone to say that... of course, I figured it'd either be dpx or charles...

I was nervous about suggesting we watch movies over a distance too, since I thought he'd find it dorky, but honestly, it's a great way to kick back and get a feel for how each other feels about things brought up, especially early on in the relationship. We don't do it often anymore, but every once in awhile it's a nice treat.

Yeah, I think we've got everyone beat with the amount of movies and TV series we have watched together over the phone. Then again, that's a benefit of having free long distance calling in my digital bundle... But off the top of my head, here's just the TV series we've watched on DVD together over the phone. I think my initial estimate of 50 movies is way lowballing it too...

The Sopranos (all)

Lost (all so far)

Deadwood (all)

Rome (all)

Firefly (twice)

Fringe (all so far)

Mad Men (all so far)

Twin Peaks

Dollhouse (all so far)

The Tudors (first two seasons)

True Blood (all so far)

So if watching movies / TV series together is dorky...well, I'm King Poindexter of Nerdington.

Hi Everyone,

Oh my, our long distance days seem so long and many years ago....

But I remember that here is what my boyfriend (now husband) and I did back in our old long distance days...

-Chatted on yahoo messenger, and webcam, every day...(lol...I remember once we chatted non-stop for 12 hours...what a marathon...world record?)

-Sent each other e-mails (lol..yeah, our e-mail boxes got pretty stuffed/full..)

-Posted on an online writiing group that we were both a part of (lol..that's where we met in the first place, actually)

-Played online games (lol..especially scrabble...he was better at that than I was...)

-Wrote and sent letters and card via-snail mail to each other...(lol...makes one look forward to the mailbox each day.)

-Made arts/crafts projects and drawings/paintings for each other...(lol..yeah, we're both creative people...)

-Made cds with songs that we liked together (lol..and we used some of those cds for our wedding actually...)

-Listened to music from the cds that we made together (lol...at the same time too...)

-Took photos and organized and scrapbooked those photos in our albums (lol...I did most of the organizing there...)

-Some phone calls (lol..though not too many, as we both didn't like the phone much...very awkward...)

-Shopped for foods/items that were local to us, and in-person gave such (lol...the Canadian/American exchange...)

-Cried...wishing that we would see each other soon in between visits...(lol...so I did the crying here..)

Needless to say, I never really did get any other work or stuudying done while we were apart...Oh the things love does to a person!....

Sigh, I admit, sometimes I do miss those long-distance days, as it offered a different aspect to our relationship, and in ways made us closer than in-person everyday contact....

"Distance makes the heart grow fonder", I suppose..

Nevertheless, we are still close to each other, and being together is even better than being apart.

And to those of you who are still apart with your loved ones: Don't worry, you'll be together soon!

In the meantime, remember..There is no distance with love....... (L)

-Read a novel together. We both get the same book, and take turns reading aloud to one another.

-Do crosswords over the phone. We don't do this much anymore (I'm a bigger crossword fan than she is), but it's great fun.

-Online games. We used to play Scrabble but after she started to get annoyed by how often I was beating her, we switched to Yahtzee...a game we're quite even at!

Any others? Keep it clean, folks...

We used to webcam chat everyday. Sometimes we'd watch the same TV show or sports event and talk about it. Once and a while we'd play a game on MSN like checkers or tic tac toe, but we'd usually just chat about our day. We talked on the phone for brief intervals several times a day as well. Whenever he'd get a break at work he'd call me just to say hello. Nothing really exciting or different!
