slow processing at london embassy

Hmmm..... 4 weeks after I sent on my forms (and 4 days short of when I sent in the checklist) it is still not showing on their system that they received my checklist. I received the following e-mail from the embassy.....

We have no record of having received the Document Checklist to which you

refer. However there is a delay of 6 - 8 weeks between the date forms

are received by the Embassy and the date in which they are processed and

entered on to our system. As soon as the Immigrant Visa Unit has

received the missing checklist and completed any additional processing

on your application you can anticipate receiving an appointment date for

an interview within 8 weeks.

Due to the enormous workload handled by this office it will not be

possible to expedite processing on your application. Although we are

sympathetic to your interest in obtaining a visa as soon as possible,

there are a vast number of other applicants with similarly compelling

reasons for travel.

------------------------------------------------end e-mail-----------

Unfortunately i did not sent the checklist registered mail (note to anyone submitting register all mail to the mebassy that way you know if it go there!!)

I have since sent a letter stating that I had all the items required in the checklist (and I listed them). I did not have a copy of my checklist to hand at that point. Now that I do have my checklist copy to hand I am wondering if I should send that off as well or if it is over kill. what do you think?

Really do not know what to do about data collection now. Considering heading of to the DRin the next 3 weeks while I wait for the date and do what I can.

Thanks for reading my wee moan here as I try to keep panic levels down.

Have your American half ring the Department of State (DOS). I called them every other day, and was able to hear of our interview five days before we got the packet from the consulate.

Yeah it seems to be taking a bit too long... We received our packet 4 about 3 and 1/2 weeks after we sent the checklist....

I would send another one as well, IMO I don;t think it'll do any harm...

:dance: Happy happy days are ahead!

His medical is on this coming Tuesday. This is the only part that has worried us, the whole what if there is a lump here or something else he didn't know he had going on. I am sure he is as healthy as a horse, and we have nothing to fear.

So far we are planning his trip home somewhere on or just after the 25th of August, if all goes well. Need to get started clearing out all my junk, so the poor man has room for his undies! Plus if I clear out my drawers, perhaps I get all new undies when he comes home! ;)

p.s sorry for hijacking the OP's thread, it is about slow processes though lol!

Thanks guys! I'll keep you posted!! :-) I am sending off a second copy of the checklist today. Will get my finace to call the DoS tomorrow and follow up with an e-mail in a week's time. Now i'm in resigned mood as opposed to impatient - a little easier to live with ......

Thank you for your suggestion and posting the phone number for the DOS. Glad I called them, turns out there is a mistake on a DOB. :o
 Glad you were able to find out a little bit earlier. Keep that number on hand works great to find out your interview date if London doesn't bother to answer your emails.

Hi globetrotter!

My fiance got an email response (he emailed Tuesday or yesterday) saying his appointment had been set today for 23 August. Strange though, I mailed them last Thursday and no response from them. Maybe he has the magic touch. Hopefully they will have his DOB corrected by then.

I hope that you hear from them soon.

Good luck!
