It's very premature, but I've been looking at different airlines to see what was available when the time comes to get Merlaine here :D I've flown China Air twice now and I have been really impressed both times. For grins, I looked at airfare just now from Manila. They don't have flights or fares listed after the first of the year yet, but if your going to be flying in December...IT'S WAY CHEAP! One way from Manila to Los Angeles all month is $418 total!! I'm sure hoping to have my baby here around March and sure hope they have these kinda prices then!!

Oh on a side note, when I went to see her I got a prepaid Greendot MasterCard so I could leave it with her. It's worked great for getting money to her - just load the card and it's available instantly at the ATM for her. If I purchase her ticket online using that card info then she shouldn't have any problem at the airport when asked to present the card used to purchase it right?

My husband uses China Airlines all the time. He goes for the lowest available fare always, being the thrifty Ilocano that he is. :star: Besides, he says the food is fine and the flight attendants look good!

I haven't flown on any other international carriers, but I was really impressed with China Air. I extended my stay in Tacloban by a couple of weeks and had to rebook all my flights. I wasn't thinking ( I was busy..hehee) and just let my departure day slip by. So the next day I started calling all the airlines. My US Air/Continental flight made me buy a whole new ticket because it was cheaper than all the "penalties" they were gonna charge me for a no show. PAL charged me about $40 in fees. I called China Air (nervously) and they said No problem!! When would you like to leave? No fees for "no show", no rebooking fees, just rescheduled me. Get on the plane to TPE from MNL, 1 hour in they feed you dinner even on that short flight (good food too). TPE to LAX, 1-2 hours in they feed you again, crash for 6 or 7 hours, 2 hours before arrival they feed you breakfast. I've never been charged for one beer, drink, no baggage fees, NOTHING! Oh and then you have to get on a domestic flight..dear god no please :( Flo and her sidekick throw a stale bag of peanuts in ur lap and ask if you'd like a $7 can of warm beer to wash um down with..bah

Anyway, if you haven't flown China Air - you should :D (especially at that price!!)

Hubby flew China Air once....and never again, depsite their lower prices. Language barrier caused him to miss his flight and he ended up being delayed some 24 hours  . OUr li'l girl was heartbroken that Daddy didn't come home on the day that he said he would and she ran to her bed and cried for a long time with his picture in her hands. Nope...never again.

That is an great price. I just bought one from Northwest that was a couple hundred higher than that. I also have traveled with China air before. Was plesent but there was a lengthy delay and missed connection getting there. The service was very good. They don't have a point of entry in Seattle is why I went with Northwest. Didn't want my lady going thru LAX. Am usre plenty do all they time but just want a smooth eay trip for her.

And as a side Note the Green Dot card thru wal-mart is so easy to use to send money to the philippines. Easy to us at any atm. Low cost to load as well. Only 3 dollars. For me has been the way to go for the past 2 years.

Wow really?? I've been on several of their flights now and all the girls spoke very fluent English, from the Captain to all the ladies at the check-in counter. Their flights don't leave the US until 1am or so, so depending on your connecting domestic flight, it can be pretty brutal waiting. I've had 7 or 8 hour waits at both LAX and SFO.

Signs and monitors in English are all over the place. How can somebody miss his flight unless he is a little low in brainpower?
