Ciudad Juarez recent Packet 3 experiences?

I'm feeling pretty annoyed today. I called the Ciudad Juarez consulate 2 weeks ago, and they told me that the average wait time for them to send out Packet 3 (after having the approved I-129F) was 2-3 months.

I called them today and the guy who I spoke with said the wait time is now 5-8 months?!? I made him read it off the computer screen because I was convinced he was wrong. He had no explanation for why this would be so.

I'm really desperate for any real information about what's going on there? Has anyone else heard this? Every timeline I've seen listed here for K1s in Mexico gives a much shorter timeline for sending out Packet 3.

I need some hope.

thanks!

I'm in the same boat. Actually our timeline looks very similar. We have been waiting since middle of May as well for our packet3. I call every week as well. Last week I told them 129 approval was only valid till 9/1 and he seemed confident that we would have packet 3 by then. Frustrating. I think the people who answer the phones don't know much. I have also sent emails and they have replied back stating we cannot go early we must wait till packet is mailed. Not sure why Juarez is taking so damn long. Maybe 4th holiday and mexico elections. Maybe we will both get some good news soon.

I'm kind of confused about the situation here. Is this a fiancee visa we are talking about?

Our application was approved and recalled but we actually received the fiancee packet before it was recalled. The packet was sent out in a reasonable amount of time. (timeline) I think that the people from the consulate may have been confused between the different "packets" they send out. I wish I could give you more info but that is all I know.

Here is a helpful link on the K1 process for Mexico which is quite different from many other consulates.

I actually was in Juarez last month and we knocked out the medical and the bank deposit for the visa application. Hopefully all of us will be going down soon!

Unless the policy has changed recently, you do not have to wait for Packet 3 to go for a K-1 interview!!!! Just print all the forms out online and show up a day early to get a paper from the consulate so you can get your medical done. Next day go for the interview, no appointment is needed for a K-1 interview at Juarez. I would call and check if you are still able to do this, and get the correct directions on how to do it. There is a great thread tucked away somewhere here on visajourney with TONS of info on this and people who have done it this way.

"Unless the policy has changed recently, you do not have to wait for Packet 3 to go for a K-1 interview!!!! "

-- I had this same question, as this was what I had heard. When I called the consulate, they told me you do have to wait to receive Packet 3 before you go for an interview. They say that they are "processing" the paperwork and that you have to have the letter from the consulate to go for an interview. THey were very clear about this. Of course, they do often give incorrect information too.

What have other people heard recently from teh consulate?

Here is a good thread on the info, especially page 3. I highly recommend reading it. Unless the policy has changed, you do not have to wait to receive packet 3.

My fiance and I got an approval from California in early June and things went very quickly through the NVC. I went to Mexico for a week (July 5-July 12) and while I was there packet three came. You can get all the forms online from the Ciudad Juarez Consulate's website and you can find the form DS-156 on VJ. The only thing that you can't find online is the personal letter, obviously, that the consulate sends in packet three. I have heard, though, that you can get that at a window at the consulate. I hope this information helps and good luck!

Thanks everyone for the advice. I just didn't want to send my fiance to Juarez without being absolutely sure that he doesn't need the packet first. Of course, now i feel pretty annoyed and stupid for not realizing this sooner, as he probably could have gone to the Consulate 2 months ago!

Thanks again. Visajourney is great. I'm not sure what i would do without this website.

As the others said, MANY people have gone without packet 3 and had success. It's worth a trip up there. The worst that can happen is you have to wait. The best is that you get the visa. Good luck!
