A Word of Encouragement

It took 16 months to get my wife here, but after that things happened fairly quickly.

When she was getting ready to leave the Philippines she was discouraged and sad because she had a wonderful job as a school principal, and she was very good at her job. She felt she was throwing all her accomplishments away. I mean, at age 33 she was assistant principal of a school of 2000 students, and by the age of 34 she was the youngest principal in the capitol region district at a school of 750 students, and was highly praised from very high up.

Four months after arriving in the USA she had her green card. Today, 5 months after her arrival, she began her first American job, had 2 interviews in 2 different education districts, was approved in one today and is to start work at her 2nd job on Monday and she is accepted also at her 2nd interview.... 3 jobs in one day, 2 of which are in her profession.

That is a pretty big thing to me, considering how we are in the midst of a recession here, with 10% unemployment. I am so proud of her. She brings smiles to the faces of all who meet her here too. Today I felt like a parent taking their child to the first day of kindergarten when I took her to her new job. And she was like the teenager who didnt want her parent to embarrass her, telling me to go home now, but in a friendly way. But she was embraced in heart by those she will be working with, as I was able to witness myself.

She is studying right now for her teacher's license, the tests she will take November 14. She is well on her way to great success ehre now. She was approved at 2 of the 3 jobs even before her interview. The interview was just a formality.

As I said, I am proud of her.... Very proud of her............

I love her. Things went so fast once she arrived here. There is great hope. I keep reminding her she didnt throw everything away when she left the Philippines. She kept her education intact. She kept her work experience intact.

She so much wanted to help me financially... God does all things wonderful, in His time.... Nothing is out of His control, and He does all in a better way than I could ever have hoped for.

That is one of the most wonderful news that I heard about a filipina. I'm sure there are other success stories behind all the hardships in this visa process. I am proud of all the accomplishments of your wife. She is a symbol of a true filipina who is hardworking and persevering. Another example of good accomplishments are some of the nurses coming from the Philippines doing odd jobs before getting their license here. God bless you and your wife. Good luck on all your future endeavor.

Hi Brian,

this is such a wonderful news!!! Congratulations to you and your wife.

I teach in the state of Indiana. Initially, they wanted me to do all 5 Praxis tests and 8 courses to get the Indiana teaching license. A university advisor helped me to appeal this decision and today I found out that all of that is waived, to my great relief.

Anyways, best wishes to your wife. Getting a teaching job here is truly rewarding.

The Lord is my strength and my shield,

My heart trusted in Him and I am helped,

therefore my heart greatly rejoices,

and with my song I will praise Him.
