Hey everyone, we just received packet 3 from the embassy in Dakar, only two weeks after submitting the I 130! Anyway, I had one Senegal specificquestion and one general question.

Regarding the police certificate: we have obtained a police certificate from Tamba (the region where he is from), but because in 2007, my husband lived in Dakar for 9 months does he need to get another police certificate issued from Dakar as well? I, for some reason thought that police certificates issuesd in Senegal are valid for all of your time living there... can anyone help me with that?

Also for the DS230, my husband has a daughter, who is declared in question 19. We would like the option that she could come to the US to be with us at some later date, but have no plans for her coming in the forseeable future, so should we mark her in 21b?

So now we're doing med stuff and waiting for our joint sponsor to send her I864, hopefully today (we're trying to find where to send to here; DHL is soo expensive. any suggestions???).

Thanks for your help in advance.

As far as the police certificate, yes, he will need a Police Certificate from Dakar as well, but you should be able to get it within a week (we got ours in three days, I think). I had thought the same thing, but our Packet three specifically said that the beneficiary needs a Police Certificate from every region that they have lived for six months or more. We got both Police Certificates, and I'm so glad we did. I wouldn't risk it. It's not expensive to get the police certificate and it doesn't take long.

Good luck!

Hmmmm my husband just arrived from Tamba and he only got one PCC from Dakar. He lived in Thies too. I believe one PCC is sufficient for the entire country.

If thought In senegal you get one and one police certificate from the region where you were born. Please double check.

My husband was born in Nigeria so he got a PCC from Nigeria and one from Dakar, he didn't live in Dakar, he lived in Thies and in Tamba. He put on his DS230 the places he lived and the PCC he received was from Dakar and no one questioned it. I'm quite sure Senegal is a country that only has one PCC for the entire country, just like Nigeria.
