So my wife visited VFS today to ask some questions since she was in the neighborhood and had time after her medical was completed and they told her that she needs to submit copies of DS230 package and I864 package when she goes to the VFS tomorrow to submit PCC and medical. Is this normal? Did anyone else have to submit copies of everything again? My wife has copies with her so its not an issue but wanted to be sure.

Regards

Who did your wife talk to? She doesn't need to submit any i-864 copy, she might want to take photocopies of her DS-230 also make sure she takes NVC interview letter, which clearly states that an applicant doesn't have to submit things which they have submitted already.

Here is the thing, VFS deals with all kind of immigrant visa, and most of those VISA applicants have to submit AOS and DS-230 package at VFS. But its not the case with CR-1 applicant, as their AOS processing is done at NVC level.

Anyways the same thing happened with me too, I did talk to them and that day they said I need all the stuff, I said I don't have the originals since I submitted them at NVC, they demanded for the NVC letter, which I didn't have that time, so I made another trip with NVC interview letter and also the interview letter from Mumbai consulate, and just had to submit another copy of DS-230.

Sounds good, my wife went to the VFS office in Ahmadabad and the person there told her she needs everything (just photocopies) I told her she should show the letter saying all they need is Passport PCC and medical report. We'll see tomorrow.

Thanks for the prompt reply

They aren't going by the book for sure. She should have demanded to speak with a supervisor and showed them the NVC letter. You would think, working at VFS they would be thorough about different VISA rules.

What are you going to do about it though? Send the bank statements or call VFS personally and see what excuse do they give regarding bank statement?

Sending bank statement. My wife tried arguing with them and I called NVC as well and they said you have to submit whatever the embassy asks for and since VFS is kinda for the embassy that we would have to comply. She started giving her some BS that its required for everyone. They also wanted job letter but when my wife showed 2 years worth of pay stubs she said it wasn't required.
