$290 billion to more than $10 trillion, is the result of deficits under Republican presidents. Under Kennedy-Johnson and Carter, revenue growth matched spending growth. Under Clinton, as under Truman, spending grew much more slowly than revenues, erasing big budget deficits, and, under Clinton, turning them into big surpluses.

Bullshit. I don't see a single year where the public debt did not increase.

Republicans: roughly 8 trillion dollars in 28 years = 0.3 trillion per year

Democrats: roughly 1.5 trillion dollars in 20 years = 0.08 trillion per year

Questions?

Is 1 trillion still more than 0.3 trillion?

Of course. Your point?

The point is that whatever the democrats of the past have done, it is irrelevant to what the current democrats are doing.

Yes it is. Looking at the historical perspective, however, I think we're better off with those that don't worship of the failed altar of trickle down economics. In other words, if you're think we're fcuked with this administration, I'd say that we're much better off than we would otherwise have been. Times are tough, no doubt. And the numbers don't look good at all. But once the economy rebounds as it most certainly will, the numbers will start to look a lot better. Dems won't make gifts to the super rich paid with Uncle Sam's credit card as Reagan and W have done. I have that confidence.

"I have never had sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky"

"Saddam Hussein is stockpiling plutonium and other WMD"

"We cannot and will not sustain deficits like these without end"

Not really. We don't live in a black and white world nor do we live in a world where people want to hear the truth from politicians. Putting fiscal responsibility into perspective, however, it becomes fairly clear that one party has a better track record when it comes to fiscal policy. And it isn't the Gipper's party.

$1.4 trillion just this year?

Worry not - the new health care plan will reduce it by $80 billion in 10 years!

We're f#cked.

For sure and this only the first year. Imagine the deficit by the time this Socialist finishes.

I'll wager a bet that he won't double the debt like his predecessor did. ;)

Huh. I can criticize Bush but you can't criticize Obama.

Well, you Germans are known for following your political parties without question. Stick to the party line.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

It's kind of hard to tell from the photo above where the FAIL is. From what is depicted, that might just be a great catch!

Would you consider the photo below a "FAIL"?

As it happens, it's an amazing head-over-heels somersault touchdown by Jay Cutler last week, as he rolled over the Lions defense into the endzone. Love his pink "breast cancer" shoes!
