Assigning a K3 interview

As many here know, we did a K3 and was at NVC in AP for 37 days, finally sent to embassy in Paris. While K3 in AP we followed through with CR1 at NVC, case completed Sept. 18th same day as K3 came out of AP.

We have interivew for CR1 in Paris, but still nothing from embassy on the K3. Embassy received the K3 Sept 18 via email then DHL to then by NVC Dept. of State confimed all this.

Embassy told me, they will NOT issue us a K3 interview due to we have a CR1 there at Paris already with a interview. Is this true? I thought they issue a K3 interview along with NVC issueing a CR1 interview. I want to flip at K3 interview for the CR1. Any thoughts? Pushbrk, any commnets from you is needed please!!!

Yes I agree, CR1 is the better visa, but why was no K3 interview assisigned? I've read many times here on VJ over the year where VJer's have 'flipped" interivews.

I've only seen that when the K3 is already there and the CR1 is approved at the NVC and sent prior to the K3 interview. Some have been able to switch the interview to CR1.

We flipped our interviews, but our K-3 interview date was assigned before the CR-1 file arrived at the embassy.

See that is what I mean, embassy had K3 2 weeks before they got CR1 case and before we got interview date for CR1.

We knew we were going to try to flip the interviews, so as soon as the K-3 file should have arrived we started emailing the embassy asking for a K-3 interview date (but without mentioning that a CR-1 was pending or that we intended to flip the interviews). Then when the CR-1 file arrived the embassy called us and gave us the option of showing up on the K-3 date but interviewing for the CR-1 or waiting until the CR-1 date that was assigned by the NVC. I think that once there is a CR-1 file there they wont let you interview for the K-3, which I guess is why they now wont assign you a separate interview date. If I remember correctly from reading other threads, you need an interview sooner than the date the NVC gave you because of another expiring visa? Will the embassy maybe work with you though on rescheduling you to an earlier date?

Yes yes and yes to all your positng, I did NOT start contacting embassy for K3 before CR1 got there, I messed up there!! UGH!!! I understand though K3 got there 2 weeks and a few days before the CR1, oh well!!

I have been emailing back and forth with embassy of a earlier CR1 date, and they said the soonest they will kow is mid October, so next week, UGH!!! Last email I got from them was just this past Tuesday. They are fully aware of the cirmstances, guess I should be happy they have not just flat out said NO for earlier interview.

Well, that is promising that they are open to working with you. One would think they would work people into openings from cancelations and such when they could, especially when there is an important reason like yours (not that being apart from a loved one for an extra month isnt important to all of us, but you know what I mean). Good luck and I hope you get an earlier date!
