Australian airline Jetstar has been forced to apologize to a woman who complained a male flight attendant tried to befriend her 15-year-old daughter on Facebook hours after their plane landed.

The budget airline's spokesman Simon Westaway said it was conducting an internal investigation into the incident and management had been in touch with the Melbourne-based flight attendant, who is on a rostered day off.

The mother, known only as Elizabeth, and her 15 and 16-year-old daughters flew from the Sunshine Coast to Melbourne last month.

Elizabeth said her daughters did not give the attendant their names but the younger one received a friendship request, followed by messages asking why she hadn't added him as a Facebook2.gif friend.

They have since blocked the man from making any Facebook friend requests, but Elizabeth said she was worried especially during the school holidays that he had made other such requests and impressionable young girls had accepted them.

While it was originally believed the flight attendant accessed her daughter's details through the flight manifest, Westaway said he understood the girl's name had been obtained through a flight boarding pass.

"We need to get our employee's side of the story in regard to that," he said. "He's a good employee, he's been with the company for over two years."

I'm just amazed at the existence of a straight male flight attendant

The Aussie airlines got rid of a large portion of old hags on their flights; yes the same types that are synonymous with US airlines. They either promoted them to head stewardess or moved them to something else. As such, most flights I have been on have a young male and female crew. Particularly college kids who would love to fly and work.

Some teenagers that are 15 look 20 anyway, so I am not surprised.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

My cousin (he's in his 50s) worked for Qantas for 25 years as a flight attendant. Straight as anything. Retired a few years ago, now spends 6 months of the year travelling the world on free flights, the other half in Oz where he, his wife and three boys still live.

America, the land of opportunity for old hags!

Emirates has some nice looking air hostesses. They hire ladies from all over the world, so it's a nice variety. Just saying.
