My fiancee is having problems getting a Philippines passport

Could be ur fiancee is late registered??? Like me ( late registered ) when i was applying for my passport they gave me hard time obtaining so many supporting documents just to get my passport. Since i have my BC from NSO, i still need my BC records in my home town local registry. I submitted also babtismal cert, school records,voter's affidavit,2 valid ID's like voter's and SSS.

What do you mean by late registered? It does seem like they are giving her a hard time, perhaps because her Baptismal Certificate listed the wrong date of birth. However, she paid them a fee to "correct" the Baptismal Certificate and they claim they accepted it afterward.

Do you think they didn't accept her postal ID because her supporting document had a mistake?

( Do not make the assumption of "NOT married" unless you seen the original certificate yourself!!!, since there is no divorce there)......

and all the other documents eventually needed for the embassy.... such as NBI clearance...they can also be used for identification

She already tried the NBI clearance, but they didn't accept it!

Ask ur fiancee if she is late registered..she knows what is it..and if she is, well expect more hard time to get her a passport. She have to show/obtain supporting docs as what i did.

Get nbi digital id in carriedo. It is good and valid as govt id

As I said before, she already showed the DFA BOTH of these documents, but she claims that the Baptismal Certificate and NBI Clearance are not IDs, so they only count as supporting documents.

In nbi carriedo, they now issue a digitalized nbi id. Usd3 i thnk. It is as good as the sss id. Try that.

thats what i meant earlier...those things are just documents not really id though it has your information but its not an id card...dfa wants an id card not a documents or papers...

i guess thats why they didnt take her postal id because they want two different id card and having two postal didnt really work...

some dfa are strict some are not i guess thats why some people were able to get passport just using nbi or baptismal...

so if shes getting sss id now then all you need to do is wait...then apply for passport again once you get the id.

Thanks! I guess it would help if I knew what these documents looked like and what information is included on each. It would be nice if the passport application made this clearer! My fiance thought she could use a postal ID too!

I asked her, and she IS late registered! She is now applying for her SSS-ID, so after she gets that, she will have:

• Baptismal Certificate
• SSS-ID
• NBI Clearance
• CENOMAR
• Cedula
• Barangay Clearance
• Postal ID

I hope this will be enough!

i guess your fiancee knows what shes doing so theres no need to get worried because some people also had a hard time getting passport because of requirements...before i applied passport i went to dfa first and ask for requirements and ask some people there what requirements they have or whatsoever...then when i had all the requirements i applied but then the lady told me to go back again because my birth certificate wasnt clear...need to get another documents...then the second time of applying was easy already.

Why does the DFA treat applicants differently every time? It's kind of frustrating because it's hard to know what to expect...

By the way, what is the difference between the NBI clearance and a police clearance? Are you sure the DFA accepts police clearances, or are you just guessing?

NBI covers the whole country. police clearance covers just the city/municipality/province where you live. some people's NBI clearances were accepted. some weren't. I dunno why. it depends on which DFA person you go to i guess?? but i think it's not fair.

Do you mean the cedula and barangay clearance are all that is required to get a police clearance or that you can use a cedula and barangay clearance as proof of ID for the passport? I think you meant that the cedula and barangay clearance only help you get a police clearance, but I want to be sure.

My fiance already has a cedula, a barangay clearance, and an NBI clearance. The DFA rejected her NBI clearance, and I don't think the DFA will accept a cedula or a barangay clearance.

Oh well, she also need's school records. Ask her if she have one..if none, then she will need to get it wherever school she enrolled.If she is college grad she will have Transcript of Records.If high school,then she will get the form 134 in that school.

which DFA is she applying at? manila? if she's still refused, try applying in Cebu or Tacloban (Leyte), nearer to Samar, hopefully more reasonable towards applicants.
