Where is spooky, this happened in Boston.

I should have been there, I would have given this guy and his girlfriend something to remember.

Like what? Your phone number? A picture?

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Pike people had respect for one another, which is going out the window fast here; almost gone in many areas. Such behavior leading to the alteration is quite common here and I have seen it myself in the US. Never seen it once in Aus or any other country I have traveled to.

I just wish I was there though, because this guy and his g/f would have been taught something about Aussies.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

But what do you base this on?

In this same decade (the 50s) - you had government enforced racial discrimination; and a climate where a woman could only aspire to a low-paying job as a secretary.

This must be some new meaning of the word "respect" that I wasn't previously aware of!

Seriously I would like to know where this idea of utopian society in the 50's comes from.

Probably came from people who thought the 1950s didn't look to bad to the economic depression of the 1930s or the WW II in the 1940s. Twenty years is a long time to suffer.

In this same decade (the 50s) - you had government enforced racial discrimination; and a climate where a woman could only aspire to a low-paying job as a secretary.

Also the same era that saw the beginning school desegration and more women freed from the housework with modern appliances. Sounds trivial until you realize it had more of an impact than the feminist movement.

You're looking at the negatives. You are doing exactly what Matt85 does regarding government interventions and regulation. It's why the US is in the mess it's in. People have done everything they can to discredit the past and forgotten all of the positives. A time when neighbors and strangers actually respected one another. Look at any teenager to young adult reality show and you will see it first hand.

I see it how people drive, how people treat others, people's attitude and demeanor; everything really. Thanks to your gangta rap culutre, thuggery and now attitude seems to be synonymous with being cool. Some areas are much worse than others. With the DC to NYC and then Florida being the worst on the east coast and CA / Vegas being the worst on the west coast. Many here now have this third world like every man for themselves attitude. Furthermore, #### anyone you can to get ahead. Never saw this attitude in the UK or Aus. Actually, it's the fastest way to lose friends there.

Point being, I am not surprised to read that someone was told off for shouting out profanities in public. Then only to physically fight back. Hence, the above observation. The only difference is that unlike Brits, Aussies in the restaurant would have all gotten involved and knocked these two out, in the process of 'restraining' them of course. ;)

So tell me this BY. When you're slagging off modern parents, kids behavior, black culture or what have you - how are you "looking at the positives"?

The reason I'm pointing out these things about the 50s is because you aren't being honest.

Your the one who traveled to Germany. So with that in mind, you tell me and show me these positives for America. At least America did not look like Chernobyl back then and actually led the developed world. now, it's almost last. Hence, Jersey and the prevalent culture and attitude, which is reminiscent to those arrested in this article.

PS Take any European city and times that by 30 for when thinking of Melbourne or Sydney.

Ah I see. So we've gone from the US being a socially shitter place from the 50s to today, to the US as a whole being generally $hit.

Sorry BY, I'm not going to go there with you. Its also a totally different argument to what you said in your previous post.
