Mods, feel free to edit the title to something you find more suitable, and/or move this if needed.

I was just pondering this idea today, and after doing a quick search on the forum, I didn't seem to find what I was looking for.

You know that website where you can get people to pay for your breast implants (My Free Implants)?

Well, I was wondering if there was an equivalent to that in regards to visa immigration paperwork? I've done some searching on the internet, but can't seem to find that in particular. Does anyone know if there is a website like that out there?

If not, who wants to help me start a website?! :P

Um... not being rude here, but are you serious? It's actually NOT that much money. If you're married you can do the CR/IR1 for something like the equivalent of 2000$? That includes mailers, photocopying and stuff like that.

It's not a big amount of money -- just saying. You also don't need a lawyer with all the information you can garner on this site so....

I'm not getting why you would got though the hassle/humiliation of asking someone else to pay? Or the hassle of setting up a website?

I sort of see it as being the same as saying to the general public: "I want to be married and have child but neither of us can afford it, so... can you guys pay for us to live a normal life? Kind of like the life you all have to live and pay for yourselves?"

Does that make sense? Not trying to be rude here but really? You're kidding, right?

Yes, actually, I am serious.

While I know that the money is not a lot of money to some people, it is a lot to others.

I am an American currently living in Germany with my German spouse and his two children from his previous marriage. We all plan to move to the USA when we have the money. The thing is, my husband is the only one with an income. He makes less than 1800 Euro each month, for a family of four, with a dog, and he is a home-owner. (AND there is no child support from the biological mother!) Can I work? Yes, I can, if I could find a job! And believe me, I look every day! Right now, we cannot even afford to get oil for hot water, let alone $5,000 just for the visa paperwork in order to (finally) move.

In my opinion, free breast implants are not as important as immigrating somewhere to have a better life. That is just the website I have used as an example here.

Oh, and I didn't think you were rude.

Well, the USA is not paying for it, so it couldn't be considered WelFare. :P

More or less, family, friends, and just good people on the internet who wanted to help. Then again, the donations could be completely anonymous..

Oh, and I can understand why it would sound bad at the interview. But for someone who has work already lined up once they arrived in the states, I think it's completely reasonable.

While I do agree that while not a huge sum of money, it can be significant, I think equating breast implants to immigration is asinine, IMHO...

But you all have made your own bed and thusly, you will have to lay in it and quite possibly forge your way forward in the world like 99% of the population has to do.

I am not being rude to you, in anyway -- I am not denigrating your opinions at all. I guess what I should be saying is that you have chosen the absolute wrong site in which to request this information.

I'm happy to be proven wrong or have the errors of my analysis pointed out to me. But life is something, as adults, we have to take responsibility for. What you're asking for is someone to pay for a leg of your life that if you can't afford, you should NOT be doing. If you had a serious disease or something, millions of people would jump up to aid you but to aid in you in the normal adult course of your life?

I don't think it'll happen.

Someone tell me if i'm being wrong or too harsh, I'm good with egg on my face...

Good luck to you veronicavonn, I'd just suggest setting up that website and then coming back and letting us know how it all went.

Hey, this is not what I had planned on doing at all! Like I said, I was just pondering this today.

My husband and I are trying to figure out when (or IF, for that matter) we will be able to finally move back to the USA. Obviously, we are going through some financial hardships right now. We are sitting here talking about what we would do if we actually won the lottery.

This is not a website that I have the capability of making on my own, nor do I actually want to make it. And I was not "comparing" breast implants to immigration. As previously stated, I was just using the website idea as a reference.

I didn't say it was welfare, I said it was LIKE welfare.

I would donate to a cause that is worthy of my money. I wouldn't donate to get some woman tits, or donate to move someone into this country. You are fully capable of moving back to this country and working and sponsoring your husband from here no?

If he has two kids, and you guys can't afford anything, why stay there and be a burden on his funds also? Move back and get the ball rolling here.

Just an FYI... we have ALL been in the boat of contemplating what the hell to do. In one regard, you're lucky -- you have your husband with you to work together to make it happen -- must of us are working are *sses off to only GET to that point.

You have chosen your life and thusly, YOU will have to live it and work to see it come to fruition in the way you want it to.

Good luck. All of us here have had to/are working hard financially, emotionally and in ever regard to get to where we want to be. It's not easy at all but you can't expect that anyone will do it for you. Don't be too chagrined that most people on this site will not take kindly to the scheme you've proposed -- it's hard to when we all are working hard to get to the place that you want to be too -- using our own steam despite economic hardship and all the rest of it.

Consider yourself lucky that you are already with your husband and established in that regard.

Good luck.

There are programs that help people immigrate into the US, but those are people who are refugees. You are far from refugee status.

For you to think you are somehow being reasonable and deserving of free money to allow you and your husband to move here just tells me that you seem to think you are somehow entitled.

We know that the DCF process is the fastest way for us to complete the immigration process, and that is what we want to do. I could move back, but we are trying to move back together and not have to life half a world away for a year or more.

I'm kind of amazed that if someone was feeling charitable they would pay for someone's implants without an ulterior motive

I saw the website highlighted on MTV one day. I think perverts are the ones paying for them, because they get to see boobies. If you look at the website, the "success stories" are from those women who choose to put up tons of pictures and videos of their breasts.

PS

If you wanted to get the ball rolling, as Sprailenes has suggested, this site is AWESOME for that. YOu will find ever teeny bit of advice you could ever hope to achieve. I kid you not. You CAN do this. You really can. It's so freaking hard and if it's the horror of being away from your spouse that you're afraid -- again, hang out here and you'll have plenty of commiseration and people that'll help you keep it going, you know?

Let's say it's a year that you have to be apart and get all this ####### done, it will all be well worth it in the end. Sorry for ranting but as someone almost finished this process, I know, as everyone here does, it's the suck but if I can and we all can do it, so can you.

you're not being sh!t on, you're being advised wisely. IMHO...

If you can not afford to do a Visa at this time. Maybe the time is not right right now. There is also the obstacle of proving your income that you can support him in the states. The Affidavet of Support. Research the visa's and requirements and everything that you will have to go through. You might need a co-sponser.

I didn't think I was being sh!t on. I can take constructive criticism.

I am sure a lot of you thought before you started your paperwork process "How the heck am I going to do this"?

Well, I have been pondering this for a long time now. I have been a member of the website for almost a year now, I believe, and have found a lot of useful information. I now know that we can do this paperwork on our own without seeking advice, or hiring, a lawyer.

We have known that I can move back and we can do the paperwork that way. However, we have chosen to be together and wait until we have the money to do the DCF process. We can either be happy together and wait to do the paperwork. Or we can be miserable alone and doing the paperwork. We chose the former.
