Your wife can go on her own to the biometrics appointment. It isn't really an interview. What happens is she will present her letter and identification to the security person at the door. They will hand her a form to fill out (which will also request the SSN so if she has one bring the number). She will then hand in the form and the letter at a counter. They will stamp the letter, give it back to her and then give her a number. She will then wait until her number is called, then go into an enclosed area where a USCIS technician will digitally scan her fingerprints on a machine and then take her photograph. If she doesn't have to wait long for her number to be called the whole thing may take maybe 15 - 20 minutes at the most. Any longer than that is just time spent waiting in line for her turn. It is one of the easiest parts of the whole immigration process.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
