The German people strike a blow against socialism! Tax cuts for everyone!

BERLIN -- Chancellor Angela Merkel’s party appears to have emerged victorious in Germany’s parliamentary election.

...

If the slim lead for her conservative Christian Democrats and the pro-business Free Democrats holds after all the ballots are tallied, Mrs. Merkel would finally have the chance to enact the kind of liberalizing economic reforms she proposed when she first ran for chancellor four years ago. But the celebration would be muted by the knowledge that rising budget deficits as a result of the economic crisis have dramatically limited the kind of tax cuts the new coalition would be able to enact.

...

The margin of victory would be enough to allow Mrs. Merkel to remain chancellor and and to push ahead on issues such as tax relief, reform of the tax code, reduction of bureaucracy and a possible extension of the time that nuclear power plants can continue to operate.

Mrs. Merkel campaigned for the chance to team up with the free-market, pro-business Free Democrats rather than falling once again into a compromise coalition with the left-leaning Social Democrats.

...

“You are going to see a much business-friendlier government, from here forward,” said Jürgen Dittberner, a political scientist at the University of Potsdam.

A politician with balls! This sounds great!

“We now expect to deliver, step by step, on what we promised voters,” FDP leader Guido Westerwelle said on ARD television.

A “big tax reform” is a non-negotiable demand for the coalition with Merkel, Hermann Otto Solms, the FDP’s finance policy spokesman.

...

The FDP’s platform calls for the elimination of tax deductions and a reduction in income tax rates to between 10 percent and 35 percent.

...

The FDP wants to make it easier for German companies to dismiss workers.

He might look and act representative, but he sits in his ivory tower and does not know anything about what Germany really needs. His party as well as the CDU will only make the richer richer and the poorer poorer. I will profit from their politics, but I look beyond my plate.

What about child poverty? Minimum wage? Unemployment benefits? Pensions that are so low that if a person worked for 40 and retires, they still need to rely on welfare since their pension is not enough?

Germany needs to be motivated, social injustice needs to be ended. People must be dragged out of their lethargy and take actions. We all need to work together to get Germany back on track. This will not happen with this government. The poor will stay poor and unmotivated.

A very sad day for Germany, a day when a nation decided to go liberal instead of social.
