this thread is winning momentum!!! yay!!

Say you get pissed because yoyis does not flush the toilet. EVER. Yoyis hears you scream at her "flush the fvkcing toilet yoyis, what are you? a pig?" Mind you, Yoyis has just learned from teacher that pigs are actually very clean animals. Yoyis will still not flush. Second time: "damn it yoyis, can't you be smart and flush the damn toilet?!?!" Yoyis just had her water conservation class and is following the 'it i's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down' song she learned, so she still won't flush. then you, the parent, smack her. OH SNAP.

Pretty idiotic. A conversation in the first place would have sufficed. And you might have learned a thing or two.

Nothing like a father that had a hard day at work and comes home taking it out on the wife and kids, my dad was like that, the #######, and so was my wife's ex-husband. Learned later in life they are complete cowards and the lowest form of life. Never spanked my kids, didn't have to, it's not like they robbed a bank or killed anyone, basically would fight over a toy, thought them how to compromise.

The way will train a torturer is to torture him, spanking teaches violence as the only method of control and behavior, not a good way to raise kids.

OMG!

I would never yell at my child like that. I would simply say, "Next time do not forget." Learning is all about redundancy. That is why your professor have to explain the same thing 2 or 3 times before moving on to another topic.

Exactly right. Even with the accolade "Yoyis, don't forget next time... and do tell, why won't you flush anyway?" and maybe she'll tell you about water conservation class. and then an actual DIALOGUE might ensue! :o imagine that!

True that. And the dad might be as tired as he can be, that is certainly NOT the child's fault. The parent chose to be a parent (in most cases) and he is the damn adult.

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

I wish I hadn't spanked my daughter when she was little (she's 21 now)...because judging by her current boyfriend...she is obviously stupid...

Who is this yoyis and why do I care whether she flushes the toilet or not?

Just messin wit ya.

In all seriousness though, I never got punished for making a honest mistake or because I misunderstood something. It was when I went out of my way to do something I knew I shouldn't. Like call my mother a bad word because she wouldn't let me stay up to watch a show I wanted to.

Real love stories never have endings...
