According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Mark - may I ask what religion you belong to? :)

I am cradle Catholic, but I graduated from a Protestant University. Its interesting, because in the university, I decided to take a class on Genesis. So...the professor started going through it...and...it just seemed different than the Genesis I'd grown up with...then, early in Genesis we have the account of Noah's Ark, and the professor stated that Noah could fit all the dinosaurs on the Ark because they were 'baby dinosaurs, not too big yet.' :o:wacko::bonk::innocent:

Anyways, it was a fantastic class and a great experience...and a great university.

Peace,

M

I've only skimmed it, but the main arguments seem to be lack of transitional form fossils, the complexity of eyes, skepticism at the claim that if you give a bunch of monkeys enough time and typewriters they will eventually recreate Shakespeare, attacks on Darwin's character, some Hitler quotes, tying everything together with a pitch for Christianity being the true religion.

Good points Jenn, but the scientific stuff is secondary evidence for the Creationist. The real premise for creationism is the Bible itself, which creationists take literally. And in the bible, there is no mention of evolution.

Another strange thing from my Genesis class at my Protestant university...the professor was talking about the snake's temptation of Eve...and he said that back at that time, snakes could speak (literally!), and apparently they could speak in a language the Eve could understand.:help: So, this was a literal conversation, not a metaphysical experience between snake/Eve.

Anyways, I really enjoyed studying the fundamental approach to the Bible, but in the end, I found that it took the mystery out of God...and that took some of the fun out of it, for me anyways...

Peace,

You hit the nail on the head there, Mark. I really believe the only way to confront Creationists is argue with them over their literal understanding of the Book of Genesis. Fortunately, there are a lot of Christian churches in America that don't take such a literal approach to story of Creation, but there's a group of these Evolution deniers (Flat Earthers) that will go from small church to small church, telling the congregation about the lies and evilness of the Theory of Evolution. They have pitted science against religion and framed it as such, confusing and scaring church goers that they must choose between God and science.
