If you plan out someone's death, then you meant to do it, and you hate the person.

A passion crime is different in that generally there wasn't an original intent to kill, just a fight/scuffle and whack - oops you're dead but i don't much care.

I never said they weren't - But white on white is never called hate crime for that reason alone. Sure they'll call straight on gay crime hate crime as well. Either way its crime. I don't give a rat's behind what the person's character and prejudices are; a crime was comitted and they need the book thrown at them.

This clearly implies the reverse, hence my comment. Some of the worst atrocities in the history books were committed by whites against other whites because of unreasoning prejudice against some proscribed group within society.

you are revealing your ethnocentrist tendencies again by assuming that whites are the "mostest" in all things, even wanton violence. the truth is that asians are much more mercilessly violent when sanctioned. mao is given credit for 50 million deaths in PRC between 1949 and 1976, during which time he destroyed the intelligensia of a nation with torture being considered routine in the process. pol pot was another nice guy, racking up 5 million. the japanese agressions against the chinese and koreans go back centuries, and the cruelties are unexcelled in degree by anything the western world has ever seen.
