If you consider Mon-Fri business days minus any holidays, DOS takes holidays none of us have even heard of, it took us five business days without having any friends who work in the US department of whatever. Two of those days where in overnight delivery, so not counting those two days, the is also three days.

Do you mind telling the helpful folks of VJ how you were able to do that? Since you already volunteered to share your good news, why not share the rest of your sucess story? ;)

Could be the same reason why our building inspector just happens to be the mayors' brother-in-law.

Well, Our friend says that the one who works for US ... just helped him with INFORMATION for how to get it fast. The only thing I can guess is to apply for the passport online, so you can print your application with a barcode and your info will be in the system so MAYBE you can save on the time that some one must enter it to the system. But since I asked for a normal service I don't know exactly if applying online can help the process for 1,2 less days.

I hope the OP comes back and share his experience in full detail. I already have my US passport but it sure is interesting to know and his informationmight prove useful to others as well.

We could have hopped on a plane at Central WI airport to O'Hare with a cheap ticket from O'Hare to Thunder Bay, Canada, take the Metro to downtown Chicago, get the passport, go back to O'Hare and fly back to Central WI all in one day. Heck with the ticket to Thunder Bay, nothing up there worth seeing anyway.

Cheaper way would be to drive to my sisters home outside of Chicago, take the Metro, and see if we could buy a refundable plane ticket, but we just paid the extra expedient or bribery fee as I like to call it to assure overnight delivery. Postman normally comes at 3:00 PM, but with overnight, can get it as early as 7:00 AM to save time.

From what I know, your US passport is just as good as your USC certificate for proof of USC, SS approves it, and so does the USCIS, but a lot cheaper than getting a replacement certificate. I don't make the laws.

That was I am thinking too, probably from Georgia , I'll just drive down to New Orleans midnight to reach next day morning business hours, just to apply US passport personally, as early as I could hopefully I could get my passport in hand before the business hours closed that same day... and drive down visit my inlaws in florida to rest couple of days, and go back home to Georgia. Just a thought, but I am still browsing the updates here of our fellow VJ's how fastest/quickiest they could get via expedited processing of US passport.

Have to have that plane ticket and an appointment first for one day service. Where did that OP go?

We did download the DS-11, feel it's better to type in the data to save on any possible errors, had the photos and all the other required information completely done before my wife's oath ceremony in a folder and even the check made out with exception of the dollar amount. Took care of that the morning after, got home too late from the ceremony to also take care of that. LOL, boy scout training, be prepared.
