Guys, where you able to open joint accounts without any problems? My husband tried to open one for us but now I got a letter saying there's something wrong with my social security number?? I called them but they didn't give me any info. So we are going to the bank together on Saturday. So weird. Could this be because I am not a permanent resident?? But we should be able to get a joint bank account even though I am still not a permanent resident right?

Guys, where you able to open joint accounts without any problems? My husband tried to open one for us but now I got a letter saying there's something wrong with my social security number?? I called them but they didn't give me any info. So we are going to the bank together on Saturday. So weird. Could this be because I am not a permanent resident?? We had no problems at all but, I had to get a state ID because the lady at the Chase bank wanted a "goverment issued ID" (Duh, like my 3 passports with visas were made at home However, I went to the Sosial Security Administration and applied for a SS... With that letter stating that I had applied and the state ID she was able to add me to his bank account.

Now that you mentioned something wrong with your ss number, I've applied to different places to get a job, thanks God I was hired last week but in one of the places they conducted a background check and I had a letter from both the company and the people in charge of doing that check and they came up with a "not a valid social security number"... I was told that the new ss# takes a while to be entered in their system Imagine that...

I don't see any problem with you being added to your husband's account at the bank, if you have a card issued by the social security administration they shouldn't give you any beef about it.
