We had our interview today....

Everything went really well... we had all the information he wanted, answered his questions confidently, and even joked around a little about all being hungry for lunch.

BUT...

He then asked me for my medical check information and forms... I told him that as I was on a K1, I had it done in London, before my interview. (He was obviously in a huge rush, and had not even looked at our file before we got in the room). He looked through my Alien folder, and told me he only had the vaccination information that I sent in the AOS package to Chicago. He said that the embassy package I had handed over at my K1 POE in JFK was not in there, and there would be no hope in finding it....

... I now have to do the ENTIRE medical check ALL OVER AGAIN!

I asked if this has happened before, and he said No, not to anyone he had ever interviewed... great, it would be us!

He has given me 30 days to mail in the complete medical form, and the green card will follow after that.

So, in good news, he told us that based the interview, we were "approved", but it would not be official until he had the medical form in the file.

Has this happened to anyone else?? Anyone ever heard of files going missing?

Unfortunately it happens quite often - it's probably reported here by at least one or two people each month. It's rare that it gets to the interview stage before anyone notices, though, normally people receive an RFE for it before the file is sent to the local office.

Also unfortunate is that there really isn't anything you can do about it except stump up the cash and get it done :(

thanks for the link, I will try and call the embassy and see what they say. Although, as far as I remember, it is 1 pound 50 per minute, plus the international cost!

Fortunately, they handed my TB xray to me in London, when I had my interview. My civil surgeon says I will not need to pay to have that done again. I was thinking that maybe I could at least try and get proof for having the other tests done in London, and then just have to pay for the civil surgeon to fill the form.

We will see....
