I was just arrived here in TX last July 28,2009 and will getting married this coming Sept.5,my question is do i need to get a SSN now before i get married or

just get it later after i got married? Cause i was thinking if i am going to get it now i still have to go back there again and change my last name.

In Texas you don't need the SSN to get a marriage license. You fill in the SSN blank on the application with the word "none" . Your passport for photo id is enough. You also don't need a SSN to file AOS.

If you want a SSN for other purposes (like opening a bank account, filing joint taxes (a ways off still), or being ready for employment when you get EAD) then you should go get one now in your maiden name. The number will remain yours for life. After you get a green card, you can go change the name and get the "not for employment" wording removed. If you wait too close to the expiration of you I-94, then you won't be allowed to get a number until you have a green card.

You will need to make at least two trips if not three trips to SSA over your immigration life... We combined the name change with a new card request after my wife received her green card

YMMV
