possible chapter 7 bankruptcy

Filed: IR-1/CR-1 Visa Country: Canada

Just curious, I'm considering filing for chapter 7 bankruptcy in the coming months due to financial hardships that I may not be able to recover from. We just submitted the I-130 package last week. Will this affect my wifes visa process? I realize that once we get to the affidavit of support piece, I need to provide 3 years of tax returns and also prove that I make 125% over the poverty line which I do and am currently employed. Again, just curious if this will adversely affect the visa process?

Bankruptcy, bad credit, etc. will not affect the visa process. If at the time of the interview you have income above the 125% line and have filed your taxes that's all that matters.
