I filed I-130 for my mom and dad, and I just now recieved the letter from NVC for AOS fee ($70)..

What's gonna happen after I pay these? when do I need to file I-864?

and I've been reading about this IV fees,. when do I pay this? and how much?

And the Adjustment of Status, when do I need to file for it?

What other fees are there to pay?

I will appreciate your help, give me guidelines and what to do and fees to pay, I read so many experiences and some were contradicting, its confusing..

Thanks!

After you pay the fee, you will get a letter telling you to file the i-864. After that is approved, you will get a bill for the IV fees, it was $400/ person when we did it. Then you file DS230 and supporting documents. When they are approved, the interview will be scheduled.

Since your parents are abroad, you will not need to file adjustment of status.

Other fees... medical exams, fees for getting police certificates, photos etc, there will be a lot of little things.

Just to update the new system.. Once you pay the AOS(I-864) fee on-line You will go back to the paymentsite 2 - 3 days later and if the AOS(I-864) is showing as paid you will be able to printout the Barcode coversheet that you will need to send with the papers, you will also see a link that will take you to the instructions of what to do next. Once the Agent of Choice (DS3032) has been accepted the Agent will get a email telling them to go and pay the IV fee bill, This is paid at the same website as the AOS was paid and again you have to go back 2 - 3 days later to preint of the Barcode coversheet and get the information about completing the DS230. Once all of that has been done the NVC will review all the papers and once done the case will be complete and you will get another email telling you the interview date and giving you the link to the instructions for getting a medical and preparing for the interview.

NVC no longer send anything in the mail it is all done by email to both the petitioner and the beneficuiary. So you must give your email addresses to the NVC once your case has been assigned a number.

Thank you all so much for the quick response, now I will pay the AOS fee and just wait.

so since my parents are abroad, I don't need to file Adjustment of status right?

.. but does it mean once they're here, they'll have to file it? when??.. or they will just file n400 after 5 yrs?

They will enter the US on a IR5 immigrant visa, their passports will be stamped with a temp I-551 (Greencard) stamp that will cover them until the plastic one arrives in the mail.

They will be LPR from the minute they arrive. Yes they can file for Citizenship 90 days before the 5th anniversary of their arrival in the US as long as they meet all the requirments.
