What can i do with this case number?

Does it mean i can trace our file somehow?

In many cases - the NVC case number will allow the beneficiary to schedule his/her medical - it certainly helps track the case at the Embassy/Consulate but doesn't do much to allow you to track it TO the embassy.

My fiance got a letter from NVC today saying that our case has been sent to London already. I think there is a case number on this letter. What can i do with this case number?

Yes, you can call the DOS 202-663-1225 (press 1 then 0) until they say it has arrived at the consulate. Then call the DOS with it and inquire about progress.

I think DOS is "Department of State" not too sure, but probably is. My case ARRIVED at NVC on 08/14, so I'm not too far behind you! Good luck!
