Am going to have my OB's appt. on Sept. 2 for pap smear and to discuss about contraceptives. But while waiting for the day, I'm just curious of asking "you girls" of what brand of birth control you were and will plan of using? Any side effects?

i talked to my OB and had a pap too, she told me different choices, I think I may get the Depo-Provera, an injection shot good for 3 months, but you have to get it during yoru period, otherwise they wont give it to you; it's not good though if you havent been pregnant ever but my OB said if i get it just once it's fine; She then advised to try the patch so I think i may just do that; I don't think I'll do the pill nor rubber. But yeah, just talk to your OB more for what will suit you best :) Some people dont do well with oral contraceptives, some do so it depends on whichever one will suit you best

When I had my 6th week postpartum appointment with my doctor, I chose oral contraceptive. She prescribed me Azurette by Watson birth control pills.

I have never used any contraceptive pills so i just wanna ask you about Depo-provera if it is ok :) I have 3 friends in Pinas that gained weight after having Depo-provera, is that really the effect of it? What did your doc told you about the side effects? I don't wanna be fat kasi hehe.

yikes! i dont wanna be a fat #### lol; but yes, that IS one of the side effects, and it does cause pimples too; so i dont know yet if i really will do that; I am still gonna discuss that further more with my OB; but my classmate in college did that and she's ok with it. Oh wait, she had headaches though, more like migraines; anyway, she's had 2 kids already so her OB says it's ok but for women who hasnt had kids my OB says it's not advisable to have as the main contraceptive; my OB said it's ok for me to have it just once, but it's something I still need to think over because I don't want to run the risk either of not having children in the future.

but from what was posted by someone, maybe I will see about the pills from watsons in the Phils? is that available though somewhere else or just in our country?

I had a partner on depo once. I thought she was going to kill me from her mood swings. I prefer natural methods or the time proven pill if you must resort to something.

i heard about lots of good comments about Diane Pills. Birth control cya and at ang side effects eh puputi ka at kikinis mukha mo. Yung barkada ko dati nagkaroon ng hormonal imbalance tas niresetahan cya ng Diane Pills (Php500) she took it for 3 months pero during her 3 months eh lalo cya kuminis although makinis naman talaga cya tapos kapag naaarawan ay nagrorosy cheeks pa :D isa pa eh hindi nakakataba. you can try to ask your OB about it if you want :)

Btw, ibefore leaving the country eh magbaon ka na ng maraming pills kasi dito sa US eh hindi ka makakabili nyan unless with prescription. Sa Pinas mabibili mo Diane pills over the counter pati na rin yung iba pang pills. I read someone here na nakapagdala cya ng pills and never did encountered any prob i just don't know on how much pills you can bring :)

Naku, I was also thinking of using Depo-Provera.

Though I remembered that my mom used that and was taken to the hospital kasi when she forgot to have the injection again, she started bleeding profusely.

The doctor said that she got lucky to stop it kasi, she was close to be having cervical CA. I dunno if the doctor is trying to scare my mom.

With the patch, I had a friend of mine used it and it didn't work. She got pregnant a month after she started doing the patch.

The OB said that she had too much fat in her kaya di nagwork yung patch sa kanya.

Kaya, as of the mean time, no choice but to use the rubber kami.

Hi.

I used Yasmine for 3 months when my husband went home. And I must say that the first adjustments I had was the feeling of dizziness, and sometimes vomiting. However, after a couple of weeks I feel great. My skin became more fairer, and my fellows said I look blooming. I didn't gain weight, or whatsoever.

Is it true that one of side effects in using birth control pills is increasing in boobs size? (well I just read it in some articles)

Hi sweetpink,

I used ortho tri-cyclen lo for two years. I didn't gain weight, no mood swing, no headaches, no swelling of breast, no side effects that I felt at all. Mas lalong kuminis yong skin ko especially on my face yon lang.:thumbs::thumbs:

You cannot buy birth control pills without doctor's prescriptions!

My hubby and I will try to use Mirena IUD after I'll give birth to our first child on December. My three sisters in PI used an IUD. My eldest sister ang youngest nila ay 21 years old na. Sa awa ni Lord wala naman silang bad side effect na naramdaman using the IUD. When you use IUD you must have a regular check up unlike sa pills na refills ka lang.

Good luck my friend and take care always!!
