Hey guys, I've searched everywhere for the answers to these questions with no luck! I keep getting different answers as well. I hope a few of you can help me!! My fiance and I have filed our K-1; now we're waiting. He is the US citizen.

My questions:

1. I currently hold a B1 tourist visa. Will my K-1 visa override the B1 and make it useless? We want to return to my country after the US wedding so my parents can celebrate with a traditional ceremony. I would love to avoid more applications if possible!

2. Does anyone know my chances of being allowed into the US on my B1 with a pending K1? (If I visit for Christmas)

3. How long will it take for me to receive my Conditional Permanent Resident status after I file the I-485?

4. How long will it take to receive work authorization?

5. What happens if my husband gets a job overseas while I'm under a conditional PR status?

Thanks everyone! Your input is MUCH appreciated!!

Yes - it will be pulled when you get the K-1 - you will have to wait for the AP or GC to travel after using the K-1/marriage/AOS.

2. Does anyone know my chances of being allowed into the US on my B1 with a pending K1? (If I visit for Christmas)

Pretty good - just show "strong ties" back to your country. Umit came here once while we waited on the K-1.

3. How long will it take for me to receive my Conditional Permanent Resident status after I file the I-485?

Varies - 4 months to years...

4. How long will it take to receive work authorization?

90 days

5. What happens if my husband gets a job overseas while I'm under a conditional PR status?

You would need to get permission to leave (for 2 year periods) if you leave the US.

Thanks everyone! Your input is MUCH appreciated!!

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.
