Hi guys,

What do they do to you in the medical? lol. Like what kind of things do you have to do? And for those that have done it, how long does it take?

Second question. Does the NVC forward your stuff to an embassy of your choice or do they choose for you? Do you have a choice between Montereal and Vancouver?

Thanks in Advance

The medical is a typical full physical. Let's see is I remember what happened during mine:

--height

--weight

--eyesight

--went over medical history, current medicines being taken and immunization history/records

--breathing/ lung sounds

--heartbeat

--blood pressure

--brief examination of body, including genitalia

I think it took about a hour in total, maybe less.

NVC forwards your documents to Montreal, since you are filing for a K-3. Vancouver does not handle K-3 visas. So, no, you do not have a choice in that one, sorry!

Last time I checked, Vancouver does handle K3, in fact I got my K3 from Vancouver. The only thing that Vancouver does NOT do is CR-1.

Vancouver does not do IR-1 or CR-1. It does do K1 and K3 visas. I depends on your area of residence. If it is not BC or Yukon or Manitoba etc, you have no choice than to go through Montreal, which I am doing for my K-3

I just had my medical and it was as Cassie described it minus the last item (but the doctor poked my abdomen a lot).

They had to also do a chest x-ray and vaccinations if you don't have proof that you've had them. I had a titre test done but they neglected to test for mumps (they just did measles and rubella) so I had to have it redone. Also, there was a blood test for HIV and syphilis.

Mine took about 1 1/2 hours because I had to wait between certain things (like between seeing the x-ray guy and seeing the doctor and then seeing a nurse for the blood test).
