In my opinion, Cory Aquino was one of the worst presidents the Philippines has ever had. Who was the most excellent you might ask? I'll tell you, it's Ferdinand E. Marcos.

What?? are you into corrupt.

You may say who is corrupt but Pres. Marcos was everything but that. The people around the president were the ones who were corrupt and he did his best to clamp down on corruption and weed out the undesirables as he declared martial law. But some of his undesirable underlings, e. g., Gen Ramos and Sec. Enrile, were legends in their own minds and took advantage of the president’s ill health and they were behind the president’s decline.

In contrast, Pres. Aquino was nobody compared to Marcos. She was more like an actor who tried to appease the feelings of the fans. The pundits say that she became president as she took advantage of the people’s grief on her husband’s assassination. She acted like she was the champion of agrarian reform in the Philippines but the reform bill that she signed exempted large sugar cane plantations such as her family’s Hacienda Luisita in Tarlac. Presidents who came after Aquino were not good either.

Marcos and Imelda are big time corrupt not only that they killed a lot of Filipino people.

Corazon Aquino she made a very remarkable thing in our country.

I kind of wonder if Imelda die one day if there are a lot of people will mourn her. :D She's kinda odd woman and a big joke first lady in the country.

Here's some of the history of your mother Imelda. odd woman she bought 3 thousand pair of shoes most of them are the same style and colors.

Imelda Marcos, once uncrowned queen of the Philippines, was born into poor family of five children, who lived with thier mother in a garage, sleeping on makeshift beds made of milk boxes and boards. when she became a young woman, she entered beauty contests in the Philippines and eventually married Ferdinand Marcos. she was especially impressed by his personal hoard of American green backs, which he really allegedly kept in piles in a private bank vault. she married him after a "romance" lasting eleven days. the Marcoses were to rule the Philippines for generation, during which they amassed wealth approximately 10 billion dollars, while the masses of Filipinos lived in poverty. Imelda did things during this time such as buying 12million dollars worth of jewelry on one trip to Europe alone. she opened a Philippine beach resort and sent a plane to Australia for some sand for it. she spent 10 million dollars on her daughter's wedding.

she claimed that there were no poor people in Phillippines. when Marcos of rule ended, 3thousand pairs of shoes, all belong to her, were found left behind in Malacanang palace. This is what she is remembered for.:help:

"Our Wedding Prayer"

Lord, help us to remember when we first met,and the strong love that grew between us.

To work the love into practical things so nothing can divide us

Grant us a Love that grows stronger with each passing year.

We ask for words both kind and loving

and for hearts always ready to ask forgiveness as well as to forgive.

Guide us to overcome every challenge

and keep our dreams pure to each other always.

Dear Lord,we put our marriage into Your hands.Amen

If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.

In fact,Cory Aquino officially lost the election to Marcos, but since he was in charge of counting the votes, it was believed that he rigged the election. After Marcos was expelled from office by the “People Power” revolution, Corazon became the first female president of the Philippines. Corazon was a well educated woman, well trained in the area of politics. Although she had had no experience she was prepared. Corazon RESTORED DEMOCRATIC institutions, helped to create a new constitution, freed political prisoners, created peace processes that enabled national stability, and prepared the country for economic recovery. She also restored people’s faith in the government. She lead by example and resolved issues without violence.SO CORY IS AN AGENT OF CHANGE!

During the next nine years of martial law, Marcos tripled the armed forces to some two hundred thousand troops, guaranteeing his grip on government. When martial law was lifted in 1981, he kept all the power he had been granted under martial law to himself. Meanwhile the economy continued to crumble while Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos became one of the richest couples in the world. As Marcos's health began to fail and U.S. support for him lessened, opposition to Marcos grew in the Philippine middle class.

Democracy in PI is elusive and relative. How can we say that Filipinos are in a democratic country when people are deprived of their rights to express their thoughts and beliefs....even in this forum, it shows. There never was a democracy even after Cory Aquino took over.

I am one of those filipinos who still believe that Ferdinand Marcos was still better than Cory Aquino in terms of their leaderhip skills. The administration of Marcos was just ruined and tainted by his cronies and his wife. Cory Aquino was just became the president after or thru People Power. But mind you, that people power did not speak in totality the voice of the filipinos of what they wanted at that time. The people who participated that people power were coming mainly in Manila....how about the people in Visayas and Mindanao? It is a sweeping generalization that Cory Aquino is the best president in the Philippines. I could not remember anything remarkable that Cory did in her administration except that failure Agrarian Reform that Cojuangco mainly benefited from it.

Ferdinand Marcos without a doubt a very interresting man i wouldnt try to assess him on moral nor ethical aspects for I know my judgment would fall short - it'd be enough to say, that he was a great man in his very own right (the brightest president our country has ever had so far). While I was reading his life, I cant help myself imagining him studying at the feet of niccolo machiavelli..he was indeed a sagacious "prince", drowned and wasted by the greed for power...Marcos showed several good attributes as president. However he showed he was also human and he made huge mistakes as a leader. Several books about the man would make good reading, Did he stamp out corruption? Perhaps, big time he eliminated a lot of crooks and criminals, except for a few around his circle of cronies, friends and family members. And they stole even BIG time. The national debt compounded you guys and i are paying and our children will be paying are partly his legacy. Did he keep the country from the communists? The answer is obvious thus the U.S. supported him all the way until corruption and human rights issues proved to be his undoing. FM was virtually a dictator and it is passed. The world has changed, there is no turning back. Marcos and new breeds of dictators will never be great...I'd say we all are living witnesses of what is happening today...
