I couldnt find my boarding passes either, because I tend to throw that stuff out after I get home and clean the suitcase.

When I came home from meeting my fiance, I didn't know I was going to need all these things.

What I did have, and used for proof of meeting was the passport stamp and a receipt for cashing a travelers check in BKK - it had my passport # on it; along with some other receipts.

If you used your credit card to purchase anything while you were abroad, the receipt for that would serve as supporting evidence of being in-country.

along with a photo or two of course, but photos are secondary evidence (they can be faked).

Too many folks here discount the importance of fotos, and give the old saw, "They are just secondary evidence."

Fotos do matter, and it is the SUBJECTIVE decision of the Consulate Officer sitting in front of you come Embassy Interview day who is going to give you the yes or no on your Visa. He DOES like to see fotos, and they can make or break your interview. Besides, most all people use digital cams now, so it cost you nothing to take more fotos. Just snap away, and have some loving fotos to show off at your interview!

well for a K3/CR-1 all you need is a Birth certificate of the baby to show Evidence of a Bonifide Marriage. I see why it would not show you have met.

I guess a DNA test would be even better. I would put it in with your evidence. it is the only real Evidence that can show you where together. Oh wait you will have 2 kids together when she goes for the interview, that should be even better.

why you have to apply for you son, your are USC right ? Both of them would be USC also...

Photos are very important at the consulate in Bangkok.

My experience here:

It took 3 tries to get the visa. She went in alone on Feb 23, 2009. They gave her 221g. They wanted more proof, and said that more I-864 was below the guidelines for 2007, since I owed the IRS 10k. I fixed the I-864 issue by sending my 2008 IRS returns with W-2s and 1099s which showed me to be well above the limit. I sill haven't figured out how they found about this, or why NVC didn't deny me at that stage. Went back in March 2 with the updated tax returns and more proof. The accepted the tax return, but denied her again. We want to see more photos! Ok then 2 digital cameras, photos together all over Bangkok, off to the 1 hour photo shop. Went back in AGAIN on March 3 with these photos. Visa approved, come back tomorrow to pick it up.

I lived with my wife in Bangkok for 2 years. I showed them utility bills with both our names, at the same address in Bangkok. I also showed them two passports with about 100 entry stamps into Thailand. I guess the issue was that I only proved to them that I lived in Thailand, not that I lived with her. So next time you are together, go crazy with the camera.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

Thank you all so much.. I do have a whole rack of photos, but I wasn't sure how good they would be about proving the two year rule, because they could be from any time.. I looked again at my passport, and I think I may be able to fool with the contrast in photoshop or something to make it clearer.. the departing stamp is far clearer than the arrival stamp.. I just wanted to make sure I had ample evidence.. if I can avoid the $575 it costs to do an international paternity test, I certainly will.. Hearing other people's experiences has been a great help, though.. I feel much more secure about using the stamps now.. I really wish I could use my credit card receipts, but I use a prepaid debit card (banks are not my friend), so I don't know how much good it would do..

Thank you for your help :) Starting to get stuff together now.. we're so excited.. this site is a huge help..

Great, I have tons of photos and some HD Video of us hiking in the mountains of Taiwan... I'll see if she still has her old passport.

Thanks everyone!
