I think the President did say it was a jam session. Not exactly the misguided summit. If anyone's been listening, Obama has made it quite clear that there's a difference between the racial comments being passed around by so many race experts and the conduct involved in the actual incidents that expired. There's quite a lot of projecting indeed to see what we want to see.

In the least this President looks like to be more interested in getting people together rather than practicing the My Way - Highway philosophy others would love to see.

Even if it was a photo op.

Well... It was a photo op.

This story would likely be dead now if Obama hadn't commented on it. He did it of course, because there's an element of pressure on him to address issues relating to race, just as there was similar pressure on GWB to weigh in on right to live issues things that blatantly pandered to Christian conservatives. Those are, after all, the people who elected these guys into power.

Its still pandering at the end of the day, and a pointless distraction from the more pressing issues of the day.

Crowley: “Tastes great!”

Gates: “Less filling!”

Crowley (yelling): “Tastes great!”

Gates (shouting): “Less filling!”

Biden: “Gentlemen, we’ll agree on one thing. Israel should bomb Iran.”

Obama: “I need another beer!”
