Hi,

I have a question - Me and my husband got married at the city hall in NYC in the beginning of July, none of our closest family was present since we are planning to have a "real" wedding later. So, even though my brother was not present at our wedding, can he be our affidavit? I just feel that they would prefer have family members as proof rather than friends. Anyone who have an idea?

Thanks so much,

Nina

Yes - he can - what he would be making a statement of is the fact that he knows you two as a married couple - in other words, he has seen/visited/spoken-with you guys and has personal knowledge that you two present yourselves as a married couple. Friends/acquaintances can do this too.
