I simply do not agree Colonel. Taking a paternity test should not be a requirement. It should always be optional. I can think of several scenarios where such a test would prove detrimental, regardless of my personal view on what is right and wrong.

I also think that your assuptions on his motivation are unsafe. We do not know, making a guess is silly not to mention pointless.

I think it is being overlooked that this man is not being required to pay child-support to the mother nor was he ever. The mother received public benefits from the state. As the article states, under Georgia law, the state can re-coup this money by billing the non-custodial parent.

I think that to a certain extent this makes her less culpable. As far as the article says, she never asked the man for money. She may not have known that he could be billed for the benefits that she received. Of course, it's a given that the woman is a ####### and a liar, but being a ####### isn't illegal and neither is being a liar outside of a courtroom.

Also, this explains why other deadbeat dads can get away with not paying but this one got thrown in jail. The government is pretty adamant about getting paid but usually doesn't give a rat's behind about anyone else getting paid.
