DOS games in Vista

Hey guys.

So I'm trying to play old school Commander Keen. I downloaded the torrent and it opens fine -in DOS- but then after I "touch any button to continue" from the main screen of the game, I get a message that "This system does not support full screen mode. Choose "close" to terminate the application". Message is called 16bit MS-DOS subsystem.

I then have the option to close (which terminates) or ignore (which keeps DOS running but then just gives me a blank black DOS screen).

I don't care if I can play in full screen or not, but it wont let me play at all.

Anyone know how I can change my settings to allow this to work?
