you wanty honest opinion? If I could do it over again...

You can handwrite or type the forms. Print them out now, fill them out now. The only thing pending will be marriage date and cert, and possibly SSN but u don't even need that.

This is what I did...the license belongs to you...the reverand is only filling 'their part' in...tell them it us of extreme importance related to immigration than you take the license in yourself to the clerks office in the courthouse. If u inquire nicely, they can usually print you a certified copy on the spot the same day! You can have your marriage certificate the day after if you take it in yourself. These officiants do many weddings during the week and only go to the courthouse to file them all once a week... You could lose days waiting on them.

Technically you can have your AOS filed within a Fay or two after getting married if you want.

Trust me, if you have time, fill out the forms now....that is, if you're anything like me, you'll want to rush it :))) do you remember me with the consulate interview dates? Lol! Haha!

Good luck, and get started! :)

thanks poprocks, i think i'll start next week since we're going back to toronto monday and probably (finally) do the POE in detroit a few days later.

so next week at that time i'll be in the US!!!!

i might print the forms now, i think you're right and i'm like you, i want to do it asap :)

for the iphone i hear you my friend. that was the only thing i had to get the internet during the past 2 weeks and it was not easy to type a VJ post!!!

Okay, so we did the forms ahead of time for his AoS... yea! But...

Now, as the USC, since I changed my name to match his, I now do everything (when completing forms) in my new name? Although my letter from my employer has maiden (they haven't changed it yet in the system), and other docs have maiden name.

Help & thanks! We're going to try and get everything mailed off by Thursday morning... the day we leave for the honeymoon! :)

Another question... since it is summer (and I don't work in the summer b/c of being a teacher) can I just use the letter of employment that we used for the consulate interview in Montreal?

Krista, why not just do everything in your maiden name? The reason a female beneficiary would file AOS in her married name is so she can have her GC in her married name and then not bother to change it afterwards. If you just file using your maiden name then you won't have to worry about the name discrepency on all the documents. Its not like they'll be sending you a permanent card... they just want to know who you are right? Just a thought. You could probably file under your married name then put a copy of the marriage license in there as proof of the change. I don't think its a big deal.

I would use the old employer letter. I'm guessing it says you're under contract until x amount of time, or something that would still be valid now?

And, on the G-325A it asks... "This form is submitted in connection with an application for..."

choice 1- Naturalization

choice 2- Status as a Permanent Resident (I'm guessing this one... )

choice 3- Other (Please specify)
