Sorry no time line yet, just found this site.

Filing aos now and noticed gross income is

not listed on my (our) 2008 return. Only the

aig which shows us about 1k under the poverty

level. Filed late so called irs as to why gross

income is not shown. No help there with immagration

of course. Wife is here but had no income for 2008

but still had to file joint. Am wondering if anyone has

had this problem and have no co-sponser which we

dont. My wife does have a bank account in her name.

It would more than make up the money amount but it's

in her name. Would my name need to be added to this

account for proof uscis would need? Or would it stand

alone as proof?

She has assets in china including real estate but we

have found it does not mater here. Realy need advice.

if you are just under $1000, maybe you can put some of your wifes money into your bank account and use it like it was your income.... i forget the formula used to calculate asset. but it's probably safer to get a co-sponsor..

It is the Adjusted Gross Income that they look at and if you filled out your return properly, it's there on page 1.

Have you read the instructions for the Form I-864?

Thanks Nick!! You got me thinking. I didn't mention that I own my own small company.

It's just me but found a part of the tax return some here might not know about. On your

front page of your 1040 it does only show the after deductions not your gross amount.

But go to your Profit and Loss from Business form. It shows on this form what you realy

brought in from your business. Your gross income not adjusted. For people like me this

is the part of your tax return that fixes that issue. If you e-file they have it at irs. Print it

out and send all the pages to uscis. Poverty problem solved for people in my situation.

USCIS says no problem for self owners, thats the part of your tax return they see.
