Hi there my vj family!

I wanted to get your input. Few weeks back I went to SS Office to apply for my SSN but immigration have encoded my name incorrectly. I went to immigration via infopass and discussed my problem. What immigration did, they have handed me the G-845S. This should be filled up by SS Office. I headed to SS Office, but according to the officer I spoke to, she had already sent G-845S to immigration twice, yet til now no feedback from immigration.

What if my I-94 expires, can i just submit my EAD to SS Office to get a SS number. I have just recently sent my applications for EAD and AOS. Hopefully, once I get my EAD I can present this to SS Office.

God bless to everybody :)

I have seen posts here from people using the EAD to get the SSN in similar situations.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

If the I=94 expires you will have to wait for the EAD.

I always add...

For K-1 visas...get your SSN the day after you arrive in the name exactly as in your passport and avoid this non-sense. You can change the name after you get the green card if you so desire.

Thanks for the input.

My mistake, I should have went to SS Office the day after I arrived but I was so excited with the preparation of the wedding. I got carried away. Now, i was extremely surprised when I knew that immigration had my name incorrect. Sad part is that no reply from their office. Infopass did not contribute any help. Even SS Office has no courage to help me. All they want me to do is to sit and watch my I-94 expires. I kept calling the USCIS truckline, all they can say is "there is nothing we can do".

Now I think I am enforced to wait for my EAD.

God bless :)

God bless to everybody :)
