What would happen if all the airlines competed for the skinny people though? Would the fatties get a chance to fly at all? Would there be a 'fat people only' comfort airline, expensive but with huge chairs and gourmet meals?

And would it stop at the airlines? Or would there soon be Skinny People Buses & Train Service? Skinny People Cars Only, on Amtrak & NJ Transit.

Being fat is unhealthy.

We already exclude smokers (another unhealthy subgroup) from many places, there's no reason we can't kick people out for overindulging in Twinkies.

 On that logic you could only exclude them while they were eating twinkies. We don't exclude people because they have emphysema, or lung cancer, just for actually smoking.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

The test would be bmi.

That is a great business idea, if airlines start imposing weight restrictions on big heavy people, I would buy into that business idea of a biggie size airline...I'm not fat by any stretch, hate being squished next to someone on the plane who takes up their space and mine---but I'll invest in a fat people airline to make money--after all, there seems to be no shortage of potential customers here in America.

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

True and also smoking affects more than just the smoker.

Who knows? Would anyone lose weight specifically to take advantage of low cost travel?

I don't see why not. Financial incentives work better than a pep talk.

This is true. When I get overlooked for that promotion because having me travel would cost the company extra money, you better believe i'll get that bmi down to 25.

Different logic at work though, regardless. No one is tested for 'sickness'. Mind you, there would be money in performing tests to see if one had contagious disease prior to traveling and excluding anyone that does. Our VP would pay good money for that :)

You aren't excluding fatties because they are unhealthy, you are excluding them because they weigh more and therefore, in this theory, more expensive to transport.

Insurance companies routinely test for sickness and deny coverage to sick people.

Right or wrong, it's not illegal (at the moment.)
