BASED FROM THE REQUIREMENT I COPIED BELOW, I NEED THE LETTER FROM NVC TO BE ABLE TO APPLY FOR HONG KONG POLICE CLEARANCE. I AM NOW SUPPOSED TO CALL THE USEMBASSY TO SCHEDULE MY INTERVIEW DATE SINCE I RECEIVED THE LETTER FROM THEM.

I haven't received any pocket yet which I think contains the letter. If my pocket arrives really late, then this will delay my application for Hong Kong Police clearance...

IS THERE ANYONE HERE WHO HAS SURPASSED THE BURDENSOME HONG KONG POLICE CLEARANCE PROCESS?^^

Help please"-"

I'll be interested to see the reply's you get on this question. My fiancee is in the same situation and I can only imagine it will take 6-8 weeks to receive the clearance back from HK once you have the letter allowing you to request it in the first place.

Hi,

I just found this website and your posting. I may have a similar situation. My fiancee worked in HK for 5 months and 29 days, or maybe 30 days. Is it fair to interpret that as not being 6 months? Here's a hypothetical example: Arrive HK Jan. 1, depart May 31. Is that 6 months? What if it's depart June 1. Is that 6 months?

Let's assume for the moment that it is 6 months. Does the Philippines have a record of that? How does the USE learn about it? Would the USE say that it is 6 months?

Okay, now let's assume a HK police clearance is needed, for the sake of argument. Is it possible to obtain such a clearance BEFORE getting the letter from the USE indicating my fiancee can call for a visa interview? In other words, is it really ncessary to wait for the USE letter, or can we be proactive and request HK police clearance before it's needed, assuming it's needed at all? Just we're being proactive and gathering all the other necessary documents before they are needed.

Btw, did you get your HK police clearance? How long did it take? What was the process like? Did the USE review it? Did they say anything about it?

mzy
