I took this route through the entire visa process with my wife. Since she's been here, she's had no problem harassing me for my money.

I need to set up a string of bank heists to pad my bank account to make her not so nervous. ... you guys are cool, right? You won't rat me out?

I didn't even catch this last go-round, but when another dude from AK was on here a couple years ago, he got his fiancee over here, they got married and she started working a pretty good job in a bank. Well, a few months of wedded bliss went by and one day he posted this really long story on here about the FEDS coming to his house and kicking in his door, hauling his wife off to jail and starting the extradition process. Seems she was a pretty big bank robber back in Russia. She'd work in the bank for a few months, set herself up, then rob the place and relocate to another city. She thought she had the ultimate cover by moving to AK but I guess INTERPOL tracked her down or something.

Turns out it was an elaborate hoax, but it was pretty funny for a few days as he responded with the "I don't know what to do. I'm so upset." Etc. Guy's name was AKDiver if you wanna look back through the old posts. He later said he and his wife were just bored with VJ so they made up this big story for amusement. You wouldn't believe some of the replies he got! People actually took it personally and said things like, "my heart was breaking for you guys and you were pulling my leg? I hope your marriage fails now!" Relax people, it's just the internet!

So for whatever reason I was looking up slurs on Wiki the other day and I found out that Cake Eater is actually a slur up in Canada. Seems Italians called those of Anglo-Saxon descent "Mangia Cake" which means "cake eater." I don't know if that's how it got into Mighty Ducks (according to UrbanDictionary.com it refers to rich kids in MN - where the movie was filmed.) but it seems like it could've moved through the hockey world from this origin with Canadians loving their hockey and all, eh?

AKDiver's stunt must have been before my time, but I also remember Satellite's wife doing something similar, and then Sat coming in behind her mocking everyone who expressed sympathy.

AKDiver's story was a stunt and was done for his own amusement. The whole deal with Satellite was different - his wife was ticked off at him and tried to lash out on VJ. Only when there was an overwhelming "we're so sorry to hear about your situation" (which was nothing more than a pissed off wife) did he come back as uncaring about people caring. That was more of a misunderstanging than anything.

Sure, there are real people behind these keyboards, but some of them are @$$holes. Some of them are good people who you would like and get along with, even be friends with. But, it should always be remembered that no matter how intense the emotion gets.... it's still just the internet and it's not real life. I believe that was the point Satellite was trying to make and it got blown way out of proportion. Those of us who've been here for a while, yeah, we have a unique relationship and we are all real people somewhere. But like your real friends, you're gonna have spats sometimes, right?

Yeah, but your real friends--if they're real friends--are gonna find a way to make it right, maybe even apologize or at least go shooting or drinking together.

I'm not gonna stir old pots (much), but I don't recall it being a misunderstanding, or at least things were made very clear after some initial confusion. And I agree that some of those people behind the keyboards are "@$$holes," (I'm one of them from time to time) but I don't think I've ever typed something to another person here that I wouldn't say directly to their face. I'd probably be a little more diplomatic in a face-to-face situation, especially if you're bigger than me, but I treat people online pretty much how I'd treat them in real life.

See, that's the beauty of it. Satellite is the guy who's going to tell you exactly what's on his mind and make no apologies for it. Maybe even say a little extra just to get a rise out of you just because. I'm 100% sure he would say the same thing to your face as well, and probably without being more diplomatic. Remember, not only is he an attorney (which instantly credits him with an @$$#0le label) but he's from the old country.

I think those of us who've been around for a while, we all have our part to play. Sat used to post quite a bit but when the "drama" was posted, he was pretty busy with school and work and wasn't on here all that much. That's probably when you were "getting to know him" and didn't see the rest of him. Now, he's still a busy guy and only has time for concise and direct posts. Not much time left for feelings, but, like my wife, I'm sure they're still in there somewhere!

Don't worry guys, there's nothing like qutting one govt. job to free yourself up to concentrate on getting another one!

Time was, someone who stepped down from a leadership position would be ostracized and seen as weak, incapable, etc. But after Obama, I'm pretty sure anything can happen now in politics. I'm actually hoping that Chris Rock movie comes to life because "everyone likes a big-tittied woman. So God bless America, and everyone else." It would be cool to see a no-nonsense guy like Chris Rock be president for a while. Or, maybe Robin Williams could be president for a few days.

If we're really lucky, we'll see Chuck Norris up for election in '12. World peace will be the day before his swearing in ceremony. Tribute payments will start the day election results are announced. Election results will be announced four minutes after he announces he's running for election, and only becuase it'll take four minutes to get the story out, not becuase it takes four mintues for Chuck to roundhouse kick the world's @$$ into submission.
