In my state of Indiana, my husband went to take the test for his permit before we were married. It was best for him to take the test as soon as possible because the permit expires when the I-94 expires. Here in Indiana, the I-94 has to have at least a month or so of validity left or they will not let you take the test. I had to fight them on that because they tried to tell me it was 2 months of validity left. I demanded they contact their Indianapolis office and speak with someone who knew the rules. They called and to their surprise, I was right. So he took the test, passed and was given an interim permit until his came in the mail. He received it a week later. However, when his I-94 expired 2 months later, so did his permit. He wasn't able to get a new permit until his EAD arrived in the mail.

You'll have to check with the license branch in your city to find out what is needed for your permit.

There is no way for you to renew your I-94 so do not listen to that woman. She's obviously unaware of the type of visa that you have. You can only renew it by leaving the country and reentering the country, but that would require Advance Parole.

Good luck

You cannot "renew" the I-94. I presume you have filed for AOS. Forget what she said, she has no clue.

When you can get a driving learners permit varies by your state. In Vermont you must show you can be here legally for 6 months. For a K-1 that means you need to show you got married and filed for AOS, you do NOT need the EAD or Green Card, just show you filed for them (copy of NOA1)

Each state varies, just ask what they require to qulaify and study up and take the test again. Good luck
