It is not 'too much to bear' it is the reality of some parts of the world. Partly it's a lack of education and partly it's cultural but what it is most definitely not is a reflection of muslim idealism. Christians are not 'better' than muslims or vice versa and muslims that practice there religion with peace and tolerance should not be coloured by the actions of those who act out their prejudices that are born of centuries of cultural indoctrination.

There is no, absolutely no requirement to kill muslims just because they are muslims. End of.

I think there's a lot wrong with people using stories like this one (and sites like www.religionofpeace.com) to justify their own prejudices against muslims.

but on the other hand, the story about the man that killed the abortion Dr. did the same thing. And when I tried to say that Christianity had to place in the title, or their actions were not of a christian, it was like I was knocked down. This story was about a group of pakistani muslim men that killed a christian man for wanting to drink a cup of tea. No one is blaming the muslims in the US for what those 14 men did. Get over it.

also to note: I highly doubt that most of us on VJ think that Christians are better than Muslims or vice versa. We are all human, prone to make mistakes and wrong doings.

Really now?

So what are comments like this supposed to mean?

for one, I didnt make those comments Jenn. And secondly, there are people in this world that do not agree with or support the ideas of islam. I dont think that means that the muslims in the US should be threatened by that.

Yes, I know you didn't say that - just pointing out that your comment that "no one" is blaming muslims so everyone should "get over it" is incorrect.

Moreover, comments like that are more than just disagreement with the ideas of Islam. If you think a religion is violent than naturally you think all of it's proper followers are violent.

those 14 people are not considered Muslim or Christian, people like that will murder just for the joy of it and use Islam as an excuse.

i dont believe Christianity had anything to do with the murder of the abortion doctor either. Religion can not be a main factor for murder its only an excuse.

This is an idealised Wahibi Islam. Didn't you get the mome? The Wahibi moved into Pakistan and Afghanistan 30 years ago and opened schools teaching Wahibi extremism. The article even states that these men were trained in such schools. Wahibi schools teach 30-40% of children in Pakistan in recent years. This is not an isolated dysfunction within the group. It is a violent minority that is through it's violence intimidating the marginal majority.

The parallel between the Wahibists in Pakistan and the liberals here on VJ is striking. In both cases a lack of balanced education has created a tool that may be manipulated into violence, in one case in deed, in another by expressed thought. In both cases a violent minority is silencing the majority through intimidation and aggression.

How illuminating the comparison...

What comparison? Please, elucidate, I'm all agog.

None the less, what you are describing is not the muslim religion per se, and the adherents thereof, but a result of cultural manipulation. Striving to relate the two in order to justify the murder of anyone who adheres to the muslim relgion is disingenuous, worse offensive.
