This has nothing to do with universal government-run health care, which I am skeptical of, not because I don't think everyone deserves health care but because I don't think the government runs ANYTHING efficiently...

Does anyone know, have the tax brackets changed along with inflation? I can imagine that earning $100K almost 30 years ago was quite a bit more than earning $100K now.

No, I don't earn $100K/year, it was a nice round number.

They haven't - that's the problem. Exemptions protecting the ordinary taxpayer from things

like the AMT haven't kept up with inflation.

Holy moly, I asked a question about tax brackets. I don't think the government or the president is the devil and I don't think the government is useless. I said inefficient. Like many big corporations. Like other governments. 300 million people and all the services and problems that go along with them are not easy to govern all at once. But if you're going to change a big, unfair, inefficient program, change it to something better and more fair and run it well - otherwise costs keep going up. sheesh.
