I live in MD but I go to school in CA so I decided to use my CA address and send my application to the Arizona Lockbox. I mailed it in May and thought I wouldn't hear from them until August. My sister mailed her application same day as me but she decided to use our MD address. Our checks were cashed the same day and she got her letter for fingerprinting today so I'm pretty sure mine is already in the mail.

I'm currently in MD for vacation and my mail goes to my school which they will forward to my address here. My sister's fingerprinting date is June 20 and I'm pretty sure mine would be around the same day. I don't really want to fly to CA just to get fingerprinted so is there any way I can do it here in MD? I still don't have my letter and will probably not get it until close to June 20.. :(

Any advice? I don't know what to do.... :(

It's a hat toss as to even if they will send you a biometrics appointment, may decide to use your last one, but they don't tell you. Best bet is to make an infopass appointment and pray you get someone that is intelligent to answer your questions.

Too bad you didn't find this forum any earlier because then you would have known that fingerprinting usually gets done about a month after mailing your application. And then the interview usually happens in the next couple of months after that. So your sister might have the opposite problem. She might be back in California already when she receives her invitation for the interview at the East Coast. Over all the easiest and probably right way would have been to file at the end of summer break with your California DO. But it's too late for that.

I would make an infopass appointment and explain that you just found out that fingerprinting usually happens about a month after mailing in your application, but that you won't be back at the West Coast for about two more (?) months. Don't mention your sister because technically she has to file with the DO where she had her residence the last three or four months. So technically the DO in Maryland is not responsible for her and they might deny her interview and transfer her to the West Coast and cause a delay. Did you receive a NOA that they received your application? That would be helpful because then you could provide the IO with a case number when you make an infopass.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone!

Good news!! I called my school and caught the letter just in time! They said that they did get a letter for me from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services yesterday. The lady who works at my school said that she will express mail the original letter so I can have it by tomorrow or Thursday.

I'm scheduled for fingerprinting on June 19 in California. I'm in MD. I read somewhere that I can maybe go to the nearest ASC in my area and try to do it here instead of flying to CA just to get fingerprinted..?
