SUSSEX -- PSE&G is offering to give property owners $1,000 if they allow the company to build temporary construction roads across their properties to upgrade a 45-mile power line, a company official said today.

...

Access roads would be restored to their natural state following the construction.

...

PSE&G officials say the project, which includes higher towers and stronger power lines, is needed to ensure reliable service to meet future power demands.

...

Construction would take about two years and the line would need to be in service by the summer of 2012.

Well, if the power line needs building out to meet projected demand, and they need these right of ways to do it, how else do you propose that be done?

Ahhhh, well if the punk that owns the land doesnt have power. I'm sure the power company would be welcome. Ya gotta love govament sponges.

I'm not entirely certain what you're saying, but what else is new?

Are you saying that any land owner who doesn't let the utility build their temporary road for the promised 1K should have their power cut off?

If a land owner has power lines running through his land and the lines need up-grading why or how does the government need to compensate him for the up-grade? The lines are owned by the power company! Its just another example of gettin something for nothing. If the land owner wont do it, let him deal with the black-outs.

Damn straight, the utility company should pay.

According to the article, the utility needs their land to build access roads to a power line. It doesn't say anywhere that the lines run through their property.

Why don't they just start at one end or the other of the power line instead of buiding a road thru a bunch of peoples property?
