Strange because even in the I-485 instructions it indicates the filing fee and biometrics fee can be combined

I am ready to write the check and send the AOS packet today! So, is it better to write two checks, not just one? Please help....

follow the link Link Look on Page 8 under What is the filing fee, fifth paragraph down it says and I quote "You may submit one check or money order for both the application and biometrics fees, for a total of $1010.

THANK YOU!!!!

USCIS doesn't have problem having either one check or two. But the amount they are asking should be exact. $1010 could be written in one check or two. They have returned your form cuz of the mistake you mentioned. Make a new form, get everything copied for your own future records. Calm down and focus on the situation.

Best of luck in your AOS!

 Or three, or four for that matter. It doesn't matter what the denominations of the individual checks are either. All that matters is that the total is exact, to the penny and that the payee is precisely what they ask for ("U.S. Department of Homeland Security" - U.S. in initials, DHS spelt out in full). The instructions are very specific about what is required and acceptable.

I sent money orders myself, one for $1000.00 and another for $10.00. There was no problem.
