Well, Katya was approved in Moscow today and so it is on to the next step, which is getting her, and more importantly her entourage of shoes and clothes here. Most airlines have strict weight control and baggage limitations these days. In addition, flying to Moscow and then to Atlanta means a cross Moscow ride anyway. I have done this myself and the airlines do not ship bags between airports, so I am thinking about all 115 pounds of brute strength and a lot of goods and this seems like not a great way for her to get here. It may be the only option as the additional bag charges may be the best option but it sure would be nice to tape up some boxes and take them to the post office. Any suggestions on how to move the freight from there to here?

Congratulations on your approval!! I don't know the companies in Moscow that ship goods, but I think as long as a copy of the approved visa and such is attached, it "should" be fine. Check out the thread for her country and see what people did for that. Otherwise, look at the cost to ship, and the cost to pay for extra baggage. Or...another thought...just replace some things once she moves. I've already gotten rid of lots of clothes and such, and plan on keeping only those that have special meaning to me.

Coming from Canada, I will use fed ex, plus the copy of the visa, and just ship them down to Tim. Household goods, clothes, etc. Then when I fly down, I'll only need the basic items, which probably all will fit in a carry on. Hope some of this gives you two ideas for moving!!
