My fiance has just sent off our I-129F petition, but he mentioned right before he sent it that "you know your photos is a different size to mine, right?".

Apparently in Australia, our passport photos are a different size to the US. I'm not 100% of the dimensions but I think they're slightly smaller.

My question is, are we likely to get an RFE for this? If so, I will get some correctly sized photos this weekend and snail mail them to him in anticipation so he can respond immediately.

July 2007 - met Jesse at a beach party held by mutual friends in Long Island, NY

May 2008 - J-1 visa expired, had to move back to Australia

July 2008-September 2008 - lived with Jesse for three months in Staten Island, NY

March 2009 - Jesse comes to Australia for 3 weeks

April 2009 - Engaged!

05/20/09 - I-129F petition mailed in

05/22/09 - NOA1!

05/25/09 - touch

09/09/09 - NOA2!

10/01/09 - due to fiance's illness, we are abandoning pursuit of K-1 at this point. Packet 3 received from consulate but won't be returned.

I think this question has come up several times before and that in the past these size photos have been accepted for the I-129f. Do a search about photo size and check one of the many previous threads.

The standard US size passport photo is 2"x2" Or 5cm x 5cm. Get lots of them. You have only just begun.

I did speak to someone when I was having my Consular interview who told me they were RFE'd for their photos in the beginning as they were the incorrect size.

Could have been an isolated incident, but I guess they will probably be picky about this.

You should be able to find a photographer that will be able to do the 2"x2" in Australia.

Good luck with your application!

I claim it in the name of the Empire

My fiance is also from Australia and had originally sent me the Aussie size photos.. Due to my not wanting to take a chance on even the smallest detail in my packet he went back to a photo shop on Martin Place in Sydney and had the photos redone to American standards.. It delayed us a week but I'll tell you it's worth the peace of mind knowing that there's no chance of an RFE on that point. I would do it again(or rather , make him do it :) )

Best of luck,

S.

And herein lies a problem. Anytime the documents and photos submitted do not meet the stated requirements, you open yourself to an RFE. If you have not yet sent the package it would be best to get the proper photos. A few days lost in submitting is better than a few weeks lost from an RFE

Thanks for the answers. Our petition has already been sent (only just!) but I will go and get the right sized photos and mail them over, *just in case* we do get an RFE. That way he can just mail the photos back as soon as he gets it.

If you can take the photos digitally and email them to your fiance, he can send them to Costco or Walgreen's online. We've done all our family's passport photos, P's visa, and green card photos this way. As long as you follow the regs for the photos and have them on a white background, 2x2 you are ok. Plus, it's about 38c for him to have them printed that way and faster for you should you need to send them in a hurry.

Wow, thank you, that's a great tip! I would not have even thought of that. Saves me $14 to get the photos done too =D
