K-1 can apply for a SSN within 75 days after entry.

This is because some states require SSN when issuing a marriage license.

yes i have read the link but it says wait 2 weeks then apply

You can go before or after you get married. In my case I wait for two weeks to apply for SSN. I had no problems with it. Somebody like to get her SSN after they got married to used their married name and save a trip to go to SSA Office. Make sure apply within 75 days or there would be a problem on not issuing you one. If you get before, change your name to married name before your I-94 expired.

It says wait 2 weeks, because it can take that long for USCIS to update status in a database that SSA office uses to confirm immigrations status.

Going to SSA before the database update will only get you the run-around by them.

Is it still recommended to wait 2 weeks?

I have seen some people suggest going to the SS office immediately once the fiance arrives, but the guides suggest waiting 2 weeks.

For benefits and certain accounts, the sooner my fiance has a SS#, the better.

Go as soon as you like. But if they say they don't find you in the immigration SAVE database, tell them you'll come back. If you let them proceed to manually verify immigration, then it gets caught up in the paper bureaucracy and could take you weeks and weeks. If you're not found the first time you go, then go back 2-3 days later and check again. Two weeks is just a safe guideline of when the database should have the name.
